Another class act showing from Mr Rees, just when you thought they were gone. Rees Stands up and takes command. True Teams Legend.

When that first Palmy car got rolled he just went on a mission! He is one of a kind. He pulls all kinds of risky manouvre's and just makes it look easy. It's funny cos when the risk's don't pay off, and that is very rarely like at the WP Teams last year, that is more suprising!
Auckland is probably wondering what they could have done to get him, but when Pete's in that zone, i don't know what the answer could be.

He's a legend that's all, just a bloody legend. 12 year old Jayden Mackinnon from NaeNae Intermidate in Wellington agrees. photo uploader

dead right Kiatoa - the first thing I thought after watching that was the rebels race. His team was in trouble so he just floored it. to have a guy in the team who can block or run with equal expertise is the envy of any team. Even when he is out of the race he is influential. The Titans in the final had thought about how to get to him but not what to do if successful. They managed to block him in but after that it was "what do we do now"? P 1 and 2 just cruised around untouched and when Rees got off the fence he just went in to cover mode to bring the boys home. The atmosphere in the crowd after that semi was awesome and he deserved the standing O that he got.

I've seen more than a few teams races over the years, but Rees' drive against the Alleycats was as good a solo performance as I have ever seen, and I would rate it as even better than that against the Rebels last year in the superstock. It was as though he simply flicked a switch and found another gear, and Auckland simply had no answer. He iced the cake by smashing his way past the Alleycats car lying in wait for him near the wall on the start-finish straight.
Peter Rees has proved that he can win titles. But his teams racing record, both in the superstocks and stockcars in second to none. He has such a presence that just having him in the team gives the Pumas or Panthers a huge psychological advantage. On Saturday night Rees put in some huge hits, then turned on last night's command performance.
People will talk about last night's drive for years. And that's what legends are all about. Those who weren't at Palmerston North last night missed something extra-special.

Hey Kaspa , how are the Busters gonna do that .. Virtually the same Rebel Team that Rees demolished on his own last year apart from Remnant .. Yes the Busters will be a threat at Palmy with some pretty experienced drivers , but its a big call to say that they will whip the Panthers . Plenty have tried...Few have succeded

Some people wonder how come he is so good - I would suggest to them they look at how many race meetings he does every year - then multiply that by 2, since he races the superstock as well!
I would be very interested to hear how many teams races he had done as well - I still remember when Dutchy was racing for the Busters, and they made a big deal of his 100th teams race (as they should)
would Pete have surpassed this yet?

I would suspect so, the pumas loss to the minors at the teams invasion was their first in 40 races or so & Rees was probably driving for the team before that, how many years has he also been in the panthers?

Lots of things come to mind when you talk about what makes him the best (and I believe he is the best)
Confidence in his skills & abilities. Honed through double duties every weekend. Maintenance and preparation of his cars week in week out to be at their best. Faith in his team mates to do their role. Passion and desire to be the best, at any cost to man and machine..
And this coming form a diehard Rebels / Busters fan

After watching the vid of the REES vs Alleycats Race , yes i still agree that he is the best in the game . Great teams racer , and when hes on a mission he takes control of the race . He makes other competitive teams look very ordinary .

And had Auckland of stopped him, they had the next car in line with which to take out the race and arguably the championship. He drove through the entire Auckland team on that last lap.

Sometimes the Discussion Board amazes me Why would the Heading for this topic be... "Rees Love/Hate Him hes a legend !!!!!!!" I cannot understand why anyone would even start a heading like that. How can anyone HATE.... a racer !!!! To all you keyboard racers..... Go and try racing a stockcar yourself let alone Teams Race !!!!! See how much dedication, Time, Effort and Money it takes.... You will all see when MR REES Retires... Just how much this guy has done for the Sport both on and off the Track....His feats will now NEVER BE BEATEN There are MANY MANY drivers who wouldnt have got to the heights they have without him to race with... and against......as well as the multiple drivers and cars he's been involved with Im just priviliged to be Alive during his era... stunning I take my hat of to ALL Drivers !!!!!!! Not just Mr REES You are All Legends !! HATE.................. NO!!! Cheers Wiseowl
