I sort of defended the officials earlier on , but watching at Rotorua last nite i have to agree with some of you guys . In BOP Stockcar Champs final heat last nite the car running highest on points entered the infield , did half a lap on the grass ,entered the track on the opposite side and went on to finish high enough on points to win the championship. Totally unfair on the other drivers who were in with a chance . Everyone saw it and the announcers sure made it obvious to the officials . But nothing was done and the car was awarded the Bop Stockcar Championship . Earlier on it was announced that Wayne Hemi was issued a stern warning for passing on the grass . Another incident was Graeme Barr in his groups final heat , first lap turn 3 ,cut the pole and passed the leading car with 4 wheels on the grass . Some very inconsistant calls im afraid . These SNZ officials are leaving themselves wide open to be attacked.. I dont go with the excuse that the officials never see these incidents ,as plenty of other people do. But if this is the case , maybe they need more pairs of eyes at these meetings..

I agree with what you have just said, I think the easiest solution to the the inconsistent officiating would be more officials spaced evenly around the track, Each person can be assigned a section to 'watch' therefore making no reason for things to not be seen.

Rotorua is the ideal place to have spotters up high.......I can tell you with the raised infield at Rotorua down at the T3/4 end, it's very difficult to to tell what's happening on the pole line (other than that the car rises up, even though you can't actually see it crossing the kerb).

Possible true Barry , but Rotorua is quite alot smaller track than others so it should make the officials job alot easier . How did they miss the stockcar doing more than half a lap on the grass and coming back on and joining the race . They sure as hell didnt miss Wayne Hemi and that was only a run down the grass on one side of the track.. Not being critical towards the meeting at all , as it was a top knotch well organised event .

I wasn't there but was he half a lap or so in the lead and decided it would be easier to go way back to the straight then turn and pull in on the corner?

Without trying to offer a defence, a smaller track often means there is more going on too. The T3/T4 point I was trying to make is that it's probably be easier to police it from the outisde.

No racefan 1 , he was back around mid pack , but going into the final heat was leading the points . Had he been pinged by the officials the outcome of the BOP Champs may have been different, ... If he had been pushed onto the grass by another car , he had ample room to drive back onto the track on the same straight ,but instead stayed on the grass , drove right around the infield and entered the race again on the opposite side of the track to where he had entered . Was such a blatant move .

Dont think there was a protest , protesting against their own registered drivers is not in their nature ,but hell for something like that to go amiss in a race by the authoritys is totally incredible .. Never mind , all done and dusted now but yes definately a bad call..
