I could be wrong But I think you need to keep the distance equal either side of the pivot point. Otherwise you're changing the motion ratio. The Cantilevers on my front end are. It wouldnt hurt to have a couple of adjustment holes at the shock end though, you can adjust most of the preload/heights using the link rods.

only kidding...the cantilever was an idea id been playing wth.. heres the set up ill be using, these are for mock up only.will be making some decent turrets and stays. the shock on the left side needs a shorter shock which i have sitting at work.... the rear will have a fairly similar set up aswell.

in other news, my seat and flywheel were dropped off yesterday.
sat the seat in there, the left side of the seat will be right over the driveshaft but with alot of clearance. im going to twist the seat towards the right slightly to align with the pedal box a bit better. this also allows alot of room under the seat for a battery box, so i may be remaking the one i have to sit under there and be able to get at the battery.
tomorrow at work ill try and get my p/s box mount made and start thinking of how im going to work out this steering quickener set up.. i dont have a steering wheel yet so its all guess work, i also need the steering box coupling.
the pedal box is going to be pretty easy to set up i think after a few thinking sessions, shouldnt take alot of time to sort that out.

made up a steering box mount, just need to figure out where its going now. steering extension shaft is made from the chopped down pitman arm boss. just need to make the drop arm and shorten the shaft to suit then weld the drop arm to it once a hole is drilled through the side plate.
got both bumpers tacked up today, front and rear, radius'd the front ends. looks grouse i thought. will need to fully weld them, then fit them to the car...pics to come. also got some pivots made up for another part of the car..
wont be any progress this weekend as im away for army training.
but need to get the seat mounted asap to sort out the pedal box and steering box locations..
need a steering wheel and a mazda splined steering coupler...

Looking good! Looks like a car with bumpers
Quick question, how are you going to compensate for the kink in the top rail for manifold strengthwise? If I am going to run the au manifold on mine I will need to add that kink but not sure how much it will effect strength.

shell be good as, that kink has sections of box section inside the plates so once its welded up she should be strong as.
will make a start on the siderails and wheel gates tomorrow if all goes to plan..

I'll have garage space if you decide to register/race at woodford glen cheers, itll be a long haul up for each meeting... they raced out of cromwell last season, but i figure if im gonna drive for more than 3 hours, id wanna be racing in a field of atleast 15-20 cars each meeting

just as i started thinking how crazy it is to build a car from scratch with no plans, we started on a 2nd chassis today, but a different design.
this one will be for a work mate itll be a centre mount chassis
