Tactically Saturday was a 180 degree turnaround from Friday and there was a real team bond shown. Having said that, Dale Jnr and perhaps Tom Stanaway will enter the mix in future. Can't pick Craig and Nick when they aren't available to teams race though. Not every driver wants to put car and body through that wringer ... acccording to a nelson person in the know .nick and boote did put there hand up pete Ouch! I bet that hurt Pete!!

Thinking Craige better put up or shut up with a name of the person in the know. Definitely wasn't Nick who we were speaking to after Friday. He had not put his hand up.

I would have Ewers in my team ahead of Boote any day of the week. With the exception of Palmy, i bet any team out there would be happy to have any of the current tigers should they be "cleaned out". Credit needs to be given to the Hawkeyes. The tigers probably underestimated them and then suffered because of it.

I still think Dale Ewers is one of the most skilled, brave and wise teams racers around. I didn't see anything in the weekend to change my mind on this assessment.

Sure, have a change.. in the "practice" races against Palmy and Christchurch, and see how they do. Bleed new guys in and then make an educated choice for Palmy.

boote and folwer didnt put there names forward the cars the did wore 18n 17n 14n 85n/2nz 48n 46n 74n 186n
the tigers got beaten by a better team in that race, it was noones folt, can someone tell me how ahving the likes of boote and folwer could of changed that?, having a good team on paper means very little in teams racing, lucks a very BIG part,

.........and the well oiled and timed Tigers Team were back to their best in their last match. That was the gist of the comments passed around here at the time

The tigers are extremely experienced, committed and tough. Don't believe one bad race makes them has-beens just yet.
The likes of 2nz needs a heap more experience yet before they even start looking at bringing in any new blood - he has just been cannon fodder for anyone who wants to have a crack at the last few meetings.(good on him for getting out there with the 2nz on the car though).

You have to wonder if the new points system was the tigers downfall like it was the hawkeyes?

You have to wonder if the new points system was the tigers downfall like it was the hawkeyes? I think the points system worked for the Tigers. If they had scraped into fourth, they would have taken on the Panthers and possibly received the same treatment GB got. Then you are racing for fifth and sixth ... third through the backdoor sounds like a pretty good outcome to me.

Aside from the Hawkes Bay race i thouhgt it was the best the Tigers have looked since Higgins retired. On a side note does the Tank always sit like that on the track?

Now I'm not saying this as a dig at the Nelson team, they did well to dispatch Chch twice and lost a battle with HB this weekend, but watching the team in the grand parade, Ewers didn't even look like he was enjoying it any more. Quite a few drivers were looking like that (either that or they weren't looking forward to what was coming ;D). I think its a shame that the new talent in McKenzie is knocking at the door and wanting to come into the team but isn't being given that chance to show what he's made of. Last year in teams he did well for his first year, and I was shocked to see he was only 6th driver this year. Even the Panthers, Hawkeyes, Mustangs have blooded some new young drivers into their teams to ensure their survival in the game a little longer, maybe its time for Nelson to do the same. Like I say, its not knocking what they did this year.. but the question I ask is: Why not start bringing in the new talent?
Please don't attack me for this.. it is my opinion, and is just what I observed on the two nights of great racing we were treated to.

I guess people don't call for change when you're winning every year....

Uh that would be when Scott Joblin joined the team? You know, in the 6p car that once was Wayne Hemi's spot (that he's fighting so hard to claim back). If that doesn't count as new I don't know what does.... its not the same team that had 5 (?) wins in a row.... Thats where the new blood is. McKenzie's ability may not be up to that of the Panthers, thats not for me to say, but given how he went in the consolation races I was impressed with the young dude. You mention budget.. half of the guys don't have a budget to repair stuff on their cars, so thats a moot point. To me, McKenzie has the skill to start stirring things up, just like Asher, Jack, Mr. Palamountain from HB... the list goes on.
