This may have been talked about before, any way here goes.
Is it now time for all out of town drivers to contract back to their home tracks?
Now I only say this as it is now obvious that palmy has plenty of supers and enough to make a mighty strong team with all the young guys coming through as we have all just witnessed.
This would mean that if the out of town guys went back to their home provinces it would left the depth at those tracks specially for Stratford and Hawkes Bay, even though people are saying that Mr Penn might retire from teams racing I am sure his knowledge and experience would be invaluable for the young guys in the Hawkeyes who had a huge weekend. (4 teams races 4 wins)
I mention both Stratford and the Bay as both tracks have some excellent quality cars and with the return of the guys from palmy this would just add to their super numbers and really even up the fields with palmy still getting 20 cars each week as well as the other 2 track perhaps getting close to 20 quality cars making good racing for all involved including the paying public.
I know people say they race at palmy because of the high quality of cars and of coarse because of the promotion but hopefully the other clubs could step up to the plate and make It more attractive for all involved as better cars better competition making better viewing for the paying public.
As i said "just a thought"

Drivers choice to race wherever they want they foot the bill.End of story.Amazing how some fans get the idea drivers should race here or there show loyalty and the rest of it.Well guess what? loyalty dont pay the bill, drivers do.Most if not all of the depth coming through at palmy are palmy bred anyway asher rees, jack miers etc.Not having a go at you wilber just venting as this question has been bought up before

Was talking to one the Panthers last year And he said it would be good if the out of town drivers who contract to Parmy for the seasons Which is all good and great to race against the best drivers But ,drive for their origin in the big championships ie NZ titles ,Teams etc And it would even the overall strength of each provence in these competitions.

Could also be a conflict between said drivers and track committees etc?
Just a thought. ;D

you said it first Wilbur - "other clubs step up to the plate". Palmy attacts the top drivers thru having a top facility , both track an arena, top promotion and a geograhical location that means it is not a ten day camel safary to get there. Most drivers - especially the top ones- will go to a track that offers best value for their considerable investment and that is not necessarilty the best appearance or prize money but overall experiance. But once you are contracted to a track then thats where your loyalty should stay

I don't think anyone will stop the Palmy Juggernaught. I think it was last year that Russel Joblin wrote a piece in the programme about the hows and whys of why Joblin Motorsport choose to run at Palmy, and it did make alot of sense, and in Shane Penns interview prior to the World 240's he talked Palmy up in a big way, and basically said, that it is easier for the Palmy driver's to win because they race in fields of this calibre every week.
So, thats the last 2 "Palmy" NZ Superstock champs teams, and their say.. they aint budging.

It's all good that they race at Palmy and put on a great show week in week out. At the end of the day the hardcore fans all know where the current 1NZ home town is and that a lot of the fast P cars are from out of town. It's Just like rugby players contracting to different super rugby teams all the time.

Its their choice and at the end of the day, if they didn't enjoy it they wouldn't make the weekly pilgrimmage to PN.

What are you on Pantherfan, obviously you did not read my post properly, I said "It's all good that they race at Palmy and put on a great show week in week out". I didn't mention anything about anyone going home I was using the Super Rugby as a classic example. Aaron Cruden plays for the Chiefs I have no problem with that and Most rugby fans will know of Cruden as a Manawatu Lad not a Waikato Lad.

one has to consider that the promotion could be throwing a lot of coin at drivers to attract them to race in palmy. i struggle with the concept that welly drivers, for eg (in the past) have contracted to palmy just so they can race in bigger/classier fields. they can also do that every other weekend whilst still being contracted to their home town. look what happened to the class there......
