Are we seeing too many cars removed from the race for minor things? how many cars where pulled off the track this year compared to previous years?? im not sure if im right but it seemed like more. I understand the wheel guard was the reason for a few and safety first etc but it seems like if we continue down this path of... oh something fell off the car lets drag it off it will eventually ruin team racing... Or maybe i just miss the good old days

One car lost his fuel cap, major safety issue. Maybe no one has lost there fuel cap before, so thats one extra.
There were alot of wheel guard removals.
And im sure there was afew, like wall riding and hitting on or from the grass/infield.

Personally I applaud the removal of cars for offenses that are obvious.
At least that way, at the end of the race you know who the winner is, rather than have it decided in the referees box later on.

If a car gets removed there must be a good reason even if the crowd does not approve.Safety is the most important thing

The difficulty is getting the info to the crowd, which can prove to be a bit of a challenge, as it's not always that easy to hear what's coming over the speakers....

palmy has the option of a message to the crowd on the big screen. would ceratainly be good to know the reasons for removals.

I thought in most cases it was explained pretty well, you just had to listen a little carefully at times.

Wheel gate rule is old as, be it teams or flag racing. On a whole I was pleased with the removal of cars, just hard to hear the reasons sometimes due to noise.

Didn't Rees have his hanging off after the roll over last year and was able to continue on for the race? Thats what made me think it was a new rule.

has anyone noted if the wheel gates that are coming away are the type that have the bolt through them from the side or pin through the top??
maybe the pin type is more reliable over a broken or loose bolt?
just an idea for next year

I guess this is another way to ensure it stays on.

Ask Wayne Hemi what happens when a superstock going at a great rate of knots hits a large lump of steel in the track. Very dangerous not only for the risk of it coming up and hitting a car but also for a car hitting one on the track.
Yes there was a shot into the pits last night with someone on a 9inch grinder looking like they were cutting the wheelgate welds off to replace a rear wheel or similar. Not ideal if you need to call 3 minutes to replace a rear wheel thats going down on your outlaps however. I wonder why the guys don't run a dual bolt and pin setup just for teams racing. In the scheme of things an easy enough modification to make.
