Hi guys want to know what seats you use in your Stockcar, what do you recommend, what would you avoid at all costs.
I am wanting to upgrade the old homebuilt armchair seat I have currently. At this stage I don't have a hans device, just use a neckbrace but want something that will work well with neckbrace at the moment and with a hans device when I have spare $$ at some stage.
I am leaning towards a racetech at the moment. Your thoughts appreciated.
Rusty-Tim.

I've got a steel surgeon which I had made. Feels comfy and have only read good things about it. Cheaper than racetec as well

ive got a racetech sitting here that i was planning to use in my new car... i just dont feel to comfortable in it. at this stage im looking more towards the new harris stockcar seat or a chesnut seat, both are well below 1/2 of what a racetech costs..
there are alot of drivers who do prefer a racetech with great success ie: peter rees..
whats wrong with your current seat? to much room for movement or too heavy?

Current seat is old, heavy and I would need to make it tighter in various places. Want something a lot better than what I currently have. What model of racetech is it Paul?

Not sure if it will be a hans but I want a head/neck restraint system thats better than a neckbrace. I would like to teams race at some stage and feel that a hans, defender, or whatever I choose to go with will be safer for me and will allow me to not worry about my head/ neck while trying to wind someone off or go the long way around someone who has their crosshairs firmly lined up on my bumper.

For neck braces I think it's worth looking at moto cross ones. I've used a couple on bikes and they do a good job of supporting head and don't need to be tied into us belts. They are a hell of a lot cheaper

ok intresting reasoning, i do wonder why some people think standard neck braces are not good enough even though some tried and tested hard teams racers just use them

A chestnut seat made for you which are about $600 and I use a hybrid pro neck restraint which I don't think I would ever race without, they are about $1100 and Would Defiantly recommend.

Try Bernie Gillion at Flamecrusher for the Hybrid Restraints. Last time I looked he had them on at a Special Price.

I went with the padded option which was a bit more. Very good padding though so recommend that option. Was about 900 all up to my door in chch

I have one of the origional Chesnut seats in my car currently which was designed by both Billy Neill and Carlos i couldnt tell you how many years ago, it is still comfortable just strop it back each season to make it fit after I roll around in it for a season
I tried a hanz that a friends hanz device without the rollers (i think you can get some with rollers so im told) on the side so it restricted side movements which i really didnt like as I like looking out the windows when trying to crash into stuff, I felt it really stopped that so only used it for a meeting
I use just a standard circle neck brace and have put a dummy bumper on the back to 1 - save the back bumper from going any further and 2 - to stop the mighty ring the flatty gives me with good shots hahaha I love the chessnut seats especially when he can make to suit you - lets face it the guy knows stockcars
but it is really up to you and what your comfortable in YAY GRIBBSY you crqashing into more stuff this year haha

Would anyone run a kirkey seat? Not a full containment but just a basic one. Although they dont have much padding, but if i got a snug enough one would that be ohk? Just a cheap option? Any help much appreciated
