Not doubting that the Teams Nats were an action packed event , just what the fans like to see . But due to the lack of advertising it was a gamble to make the trek north for many fans . Palmys 12 plus teams format is a bigger drawcard for many fans as opposed to an unadvertised 7 team format .. Yes Waikaraka Park do lease a council track , but it is up to the promotion to utilise that facility and get the best they can out of it . I don't see a lot of difference comparing Rotorua to Waikaraka Park , except that Rotorua are well ahead when it comes to letting people know well in advance of race events along with their ability to put on a memorable show that brings the fans back every year. Even though I flagged going to the Teams Nats this year , I commend the team at Waikaraka Park for running a brilliant show .

We all know what the action at this event is like. Palmy is a bigger draw card but that doesn't mean the Waikaraka event doesn't rate. Rotorua is good at getting info published but even their entry lists are quite fluid leading up to a big event. What I saw at the weekend was Waikaraka getting the best out of what they have. Try and be a bit less staunch next year and you be able to decide to come and enjoy the show. Everyone there this year was a winner.

Once again , We are all entitled to our own opinions [ or aren't we ] It was not a case of being staunch , more a case of not wanting to take a gamble. I have in the past been to the Team Nats , and a couple the meetings were not that flash .. Yes we were told that there would be 7 teams present , but only a few days before did we know which 7 . As I said , we are all entitled to our own opinions , its not a case of agreeing because everyone else wants you to.

The Teams Nats is now disadvantaged being run out of Auckland as there are so many other entertainment avenues seeking a reduced pool of £££ resources. Travelling spectators in my view is the 'Growth' area that this event must be pitched to. I'm still puzzled as spectators seem to be pulled directly to Palmy without contemplating coming up to Auckland, even every couple/alternate years. Before you all start I know it costs a lot of money to travel to these events & the ££ will only stretch so far each season. Hi Obbey, I'm truely stoked that you have commented on this thread. I would just like to say that I think that we may be fighting the same Auckland mentality which is 'APATHY'. Hard bunch to get out of the house sometimes Jaffas. It fustrates the hell out of me when such a great (Biased) event in your backyard isn't a sellout every year. If I was Mayor of Aucklands supercity thingy I'd make it compulsory to attend!!!!

No serious money will be spent on improvements at Waikaraka with the uncertainty arounds its future when the lease expires in 2017. Current lease with council makes council reposnsible for grandstand maintenance only. Everything esle is tenants responsibility. Why would anyone invest tens of thousands of $$ on acpital projects when come 2017 you may not have future there anyway?? This is why council extended lease for the Springs out to 2017 so that it ties in with lease expiry at Waikaraka. Big issues coming up for speedway in general in Auckland in the coming years. 2 distinctly differant groups (Springers and Wacky's) likely fighting over 1 possibly racing venue and neither of them being the venues they currently run at!! Inteesting times ahead. Given above, would any of you invest your own money in to making Wacky are flasher place?? I doubt it so no point harping on about it being a dump. Whoa Jamo, thanks for raising this as I didn't have any information on this. Sounds a little to comfortable to have both speedway tracks convieniantly having thier leases expire in the same year. Thats all a little to scary for my liking.

Team Nat's are better from my view : not as packed, I can turn up and get a good view with out the crowd as Palmy gets.
Palmy has the profile as the event to be at, but I enjoy the low key that Team nats get at the mom.
Both have the same appeal to me, but I like that Team nat's is not as supported as the palmy teams. personal opinon!!
