Seems that strait is a big barrier both ways by the dramatic cut in Palmy cars this year as well.

There are a lot of competitive cars in Nelson now but must be hard on the crew and budgets to travel for both teams and individual racing. Seems teams racing is a stronger priority at this point when it comes to travel.

Didn't stop the pumas rascals or stormers plus most other teams fielding a team just think it's rank people going on bout Oooooo nelson has so many cars entered when they couldn't support a track that ran it the year before

This thread is not about Teams racing! & FYI Palmy are about 45 cars down on last season’s NZ champs, It was the admission prices that kept a lot of the SI cars home $30 for qualifying on top of every thing else was just asking to much, Good to see Nelson has kept the Admission prices reasonable for people.

sparky is on the money here. nelson stock cars very rarely travel to much out of there own area except for a small handful of competitors. please feel free to correct us if we are wrong.

Whilst you are somewhat correct in what you say, it would be wrong to single out Nelson drivers as being any different to any of the other South Island tracks. Outside of teams events, the stockcar class at all of the SI tracks only have a few core number of drivers that travel.

Not quite sure what the real reason is, other than the normal travel time/ costs  excuses than generally get thrown out there, but at the end of the day its the drivers individual choice whether to travel or not.

Trust me, the Nelson drivers are under absolutely NO disillusions as to how hard it will be to qualify for the big dance with such a quality field.

Any that make the final 30 will be rapt to get that far.

I think there will be a few drivers concentrating too much on qualifying themselves instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing.

I think its more seen as the best opportunity for a SI car to get on the podium for the first time, so the mix of tracks in the final 30 will certainly be interesting
