I do hope it's sooner than 19years as I waited that long for its return then when it did I'm overseas!! Any word on the attendance both nights Chris13w??? To be honest we count money not tickets, so it would be an academic excercise for some other time to go back and count them all - it seemed like a lot of people The other debate is how many people stayed away because of live streaming though - Video Hub had their biggest two nights ever, day one was bigger than they have ever had for Palmy Teams, and the finals even bigger still, which must have had a negative impact on attendance.

I had pre purchased tickets for the front straight terracing. Good leg room, sufficient room to reach the Isle while people in front and beside were still seated. This was obviously thought about prior to construction. There were no complaints from people around us re the terrace seating. It was excellent. The best views of any track in general is from either end but a couple in our group prefer to be on the straight. You could also stand at the back to stretch your legs without impede ding anyone's view. The BBQ in the corporate boxes smelt good....... Now those guys had a premo spot......

Well said Chris 13W. There will always be some who will complain regardless. With regards to the leg room on the grandstand it is no less than the leg room that one gets in the grandstand at Arena Manawatu during the Team Champs and I have yet to hear many complaints about that. As it was made very clear in your advertising on Trade me that one was not able to select seats it surprises me that anyone that wanted to sit with a particular group would buy their tickets in this manner as it is obvious that they would quite possibly not be allocated tickets together so to be incensed about it after the fact seems to be a bit ignorant. Hey Know it all, The difference between buying tickets for the Palmy teams and the NZ Champs in Wellington. 1) I totally disagree that the leg room in the grandstand at Arena Manawatu is as cramped and that is why you don't get the same complaints. Whilst the seats are close together and you do need to stand up to let people past there is a vast difference in the leg room between the seats in the grandstand and what was dished up at the champs. 2) There is a seating plan if you go through ticket direct and you can actually sit in a cluster if that is what you want - we do this and it works well. 3) As far as suggesting there was an element of ignorance around buying the tickets on trade me and then complaining, please note, we aired our concerns to the wellington club at the time and also in the feedback section on trade me, we all synced the time and dates we bought our tickets on line to try and get in a cluster and finally and most importantly I was merely making a suggestion to Wellington speedway that there maybe could have been an option for people to buy tickets in a cluster. In my opinion, and I have no official information to back this up, maybe the lack of a seating plan could have been contributory to the upsurge of people taking the internet stream from Chris and his team at video-hub. Addtionally I hope that going forward other volunteers, who are the heartbeat of most of the clubs, learn from some of the things that did not go so well for the Wellington Club. In closing I would like to reiterate that in my opinion anyway, Wellington did a really great job of hosting the champs, the parking was great and the marshalls were very pleasant, the racing was fantastic, the commentary team was first class and the crowd around where we sitting were in great spirits both nights. That was reflected by the majority of the crowd staying around on both nights to watch the run-offs as oppossed to leaving as I have witnessed in the past. Also it was great to be able to wander down into the pits and catch up with drivers and crews during and after the meeting and the coffee from the outlets was great. Leaving the speedway was a breeze so overall the organising team set the bar very high. I am already looking forward to Stratford in 2016 and if the Stratford club run the meeting as well as Wellington did, it will be a weekend not to be missed.

Live streaming will affect the gate numbers, to what percentage who knows?, I also believe as the quality of the streaming improves over the next few seasons it may have an even bigger affect on attendance making it vitally important hosting Tracks get their share of the streaming revenue. I personally think streaming is a brilliant idea and a potentially huge revenue stream for Tracks to capitalize on for their big events. There will always be those who will not or cannot attend an event but will purchase the stream ensuring the track {and provider}still grab some $$

I agree with meeaneemic , the technology isn't going away so working with it is the way forward. The ability to market to a wider audience should pay dividends in the long term. More will need to be done to fill seats with locals. I for one was an extra sale as it just wasn't possible for me to attend at Wellington.

I believe that in the future we will see BIG meeting be the only ones run on that weekend ... Streaming doesn't effect the local audience it effects the other tracks audience that runs on the same night ... the perceived value or the feeling of missing, out over ways the need to attend their local meeting ... Therefore the streaming audience will only get bigger. Our data shows that more than 70% of people on LiveLaps are on mobile devices on any given Saturday Night, which tells us that they are properly track side ... The international market is yet to be discovered ... we are working on this with a few overseas providers at present ...:-) Chur Jason

Some of the 'hot dog' classes run with barely a glance away from my screen. I'm not sure how we will go with only one Big meeting running on a particular night (if that's what you mean). At the moment we likely have more Big meetings than we have weekends in a season and that's before the weather has a say. Mind you I will admit to having two live streams running for a while a couple of weeks ago. My mention of getting more locals trackside is so that the drivers have a crowd to perform to along with a few dollars for the track. Locals just don't turn out in numbers to some tracks for all sorts of reasons. There is change ahead and it will be interesting to watch it unfold from my easy chair.

The legroom on the bleachers was a bit tight, but that was FAR outweighed by the convenience of not having to sit in the hot sun for hours on end to get a good seat!
Thanks Wellington Speedway for your efforts put into the numbered seating, it was much appreciated by this pommy-skinned customer!

We were very happy with our terrace tickets. Got there a couple of hours early each night still. Those who tried to sneak in to others seats were asked to move by the friendly and organised staff. Well done ladies. Thanks for a great two nights Wellington!. Well done Chris and the team.
