No I disagree, its more obvious that no one used their bumpers.
maybe you could offer them advice on how to use them
It is a contact grade is it not?

not as much now with the recent competitor initiated rule changes regarding contact.

ngatai top qualifier from all the groups.
How often do we see some one qualify from repercharge and do very well come finals. I can personally see this happening tomorrow night. There are going to be a stack of big names missing from the finals field of 26 though.

Unless you were actually there, how can you comment on how much contact there was? Yes, it is a contact class, but dont necessarily need to make big hits for it to be contact

No contact?!
Where I was watching from (at the track) there was definitely plenty of contact, probably half of it was off camera to the live streamers, the quicker cars moving up through the field definitely used the bumper was awesome to watch the spin, bump off the end techniques

As I said right back at the beginning of this thread, no matter how good the show, there'll always be someone who moans about it, even if they weren't there. Qualifying night is about one thing only; qualifying. Only one in four cars makes it through, so hats off to the 24 guys who managed that last night. But let's not forget the investment they've made in getting there. For argument's sake, let's average out the value of the cars at around $60k each. Times 100, that's $6 million bucks worth of equipment sitting in the Te Marua pits last night, plus hundreds of thousands of dollars in spares, the tow rigs, and the labour that has gone into preparing the cars to be race-ready. Perhaps holden might be prepared to invest $60k into a superstock, and go out and entertain all us keyboard warriors who weren't even at Te Marua last night. I certainly haven't seen too many complaints about the lack of action from this who actually did make the effort to go last night.

Hi All New here to the forum Trying to watch from the USA Can anyone tell me how the Joblin's did in Qualifying?? I am not so sure about the rules Scott Joblin missed by one position in his group, the same for Simon (flat tyre?). Adam missed by 3 positions. They all have another opportunity to qualify tonight by way of the repechages. Can't imagine the final field not having a Joblin in it but there are plenty of others wanting the spots.

Thank you modliteracing, I was there last night and actually was able to appreciate the more tactical side of the racing. It was a pleasure to see that the drivers are also using their brains more instead of going for the bash. djtonedef .... I think that there was ample contact last night, no big hits, but there didnt need to be. Inventory1, as I was speaking to some people at the track that have the same frame of mind... some people just arent happy unless they are complaining about something How bout we just leave the big hits & major contact for teams racing and let people use their brains in individual titles.

I seem to remember that in most of the recent editions of the NZ Champs you don't have to wait to long for a good stack up i.e. first corner.... I think it will be more entertaining than the last two editions due to who is leading/up there on points after Heat 2. Shane Penn was well liked & respected, plus being from Palmy was very well connected with a lot of friends for comfort. It will be fine, top group of qualifiers & there will be action.

I dunno about anyone else but I saw plenty of contact. I've been out of the loop for a few years, but looked to me just as much contact as any other non-teams racing championship meeting I've been to in the past, much more than any usual club night somewhere. A lot of tactical spinning and bumper use to my eyes. As others have said, you don't really expect to see anyone putting in big hits on qualifying night if they don't need to, quick drivers are going to want to stay under the radar. Will be interesting to see what happens to Malcolm Ngatai tonight, he definitely was the top driver last night in my eyes in terms of consistently quick and keeping his nose clean, top on points but no other Christchurch cars through. Jared Gray's move in the runoff was an awesome do or die that almost paid off, great to see a full commitment keep your foot hard up it lunge. Found a video on youtube

kroyerracingengines - only 2 joblins max can make it. There are 2 repercharges with only winner of each making it through to the finals. You'd be hoping the Joblins don't all end up in one repercharge heat huh
