SOUR GRAPES Shai Tan .. Once again Palmy show why they finish at the top , not just 1nz , but 2 , 3 and 4 . A deserved win for Peter Rees , and a great group of club mates behind him..

Just wait for the Peter Rees is the best of all time thread I'll resist the temptation to start one, but 1NZ in the Superstocks is the only thing missing from Pete's speedway resume. Five x 1NZ in the stockcar, tonight's superstock title, and more teams championships that I can count is a record that is unlikely to ever be beaten. Add to that the influence Rees has on the sport with all the cars he has built, and it's very hard to come to any conclusion other than the fact that Peter Rees is the most influential person in speedway right now, and is right up there with the likes of Kevin Free and Dave Evans. Congratulations too to Peter Bengston and Graeme Barr; another Palmy trifecta.

I don't think the ability to provide Free live commentary for people not paying to get thru the gate should come into that sort of decision making. Oh com on noddy, Its a great service for those of us that cant make teh track. I see you are on your keyboard tonight So your saying tracks that are away from high speed internet access should't be considered for NZ titles. What a crock.

Not the best nz champs been to by fair stretch, combination of things. Result was foregone conclusion palmy 123 after first heat. Old man, sister and I picked one car to win each before heat one, got 1,2,4. Kinda sad to win, almost impossible now if not contracted to palmy. Only good for one club in the country that outcome, not that its their fault

Just saw a fire engine heading towards the track, presumably to attend to the situation with Chad Ace, cut him out of the car or something, along with another ambulance. Hope it is precautionary.
(Sorry, for background, Chad Ace put a big hit on Graeme Barr and appeared to knock himself out, and thresh idled to the infield where a tractor stopped him. They hadn't got him out of the car by the time we left. Ambo attending.)

i think the other clubs simply dont work as well to help their fellow clubmen out, although im sure they try hard and its hard to fight of the number of cars with a P on them. my example of the night is in heat 2, why would 135R flag race after a poor heat one in the end to deny a fellow clubmen 45R one important point. its these small things that happen i find quite strange.

Only good for one club in the country that outcome, not that its their fault I disagree with this. Palmy had 10 out of 26 cars in the final. If the drivers from the other clubs wanted to prevent a Palmy win they could easily do so. The surprises for me were 19c siding with palmy and Hemi saying that he had not been approached by any drivers but still saying that he is a panther (how long since they wanted him?) and going out to help them anyway. I personally would have preferred 45r or 58p to win but lost hope for 45r as soon as 118 pulled out. I also genuinely believe that the new rule had a very strong impact on the result of the finals and the run offs, and not in a positive way.

At the end of the day that one point made little difference. It really is up to the cars from other tracks to take the fight to the Palmy cars. For whatever reason they rarely manage it. The Palmy cars deserve the accolades.

Take on Mr Rees if you're a guy like Malcolm, fat chance, remember one man bands need to pick battles, plus friendships go beyond club lines.

Just had a message from the track about Chad being cut out. Hopefully not too bad, very sad to hear after such a good meet for him. Hope he is ok and also hope someone who was there could confirm what turn the hit was in. It looked to me to be turn 2 , I had a text that said it was turn two. The commentators went on about the hit being illegal but the over aggressive rule only applies to turn 1 and 3. Am I missing some piece of vital info that would help me understand why they made those comments.
