8p scott mires 88p jack mires Im sure Scott and Jack prefer their name to be spelt Miers?? Their name has been around for a long time yet it still gets rearranged, sorry if it is nit picking but most people like their name with correct spelling.

And although I'm no historian so can't give you dates etc but I'd imagine Russell Joblin would have won it with the Scrappers prob 3 (ish) times. Some historian will correct me tho

Some historian will correct me tho The first Teams Champs was in 1981 Rammers, where the Palmy B team beat Wanganui in the final. But the Panthers/Scrappers battles in the years that followed were the stuff of legend. I'm sure Russell Joblin was at the pointy end as space frames started to dominate proceedings.

No word on the mighty Warriors yet Inventory1 or FlyingtheV? Possibly after the weekend Richard. My understanding is that the team will be pretty similar to last year with probably one change, but that has not yet been confirmed. I DO know that KP is racing the 56V tank at Palmerston North this weekend, and that he got his eye in with a couple of wins at Oceanview on Sunday night.

Thats good news, can always guarantee action a-plenty with the tank commander in attendance.

Will hunt through my old progames later to confirm. Stratford than didn't win again until 87, and I think Russel had hung up his helmet by than. Please, going by memory only, happy to be corrected The 87 Team was Keith Simpson, John Mercer, Grant Tippet and Bruce Simpson in KZ7

It was raced at the 240s as 15v by Kyle heibner, then was back in Wanganui by Sunday morning to get prepped for that night!

Dead right screaminv8 - the bus got back to Wanganui around 5am Sunday, everyone had a quick kip then the body, bonnet and side panels were switched. It was the same for the Wanganui Vulcans guys who, after winning the Peter Barry event at Meeanee, headed home and switched their cars from team bodies to their normal trim for Sunday night's racing. You certainly can't fault their commitment.
