I find it interesting that some people think that because the panthers win everyone should like them and be happy about the fact. If speedway wants to be taken seriously there is going to be criticism, look at rugby, people boo, whinge and moan at players and a team if they play badly or break a rule and get away with it (how many times have you heard "oh come on ref"). Yes the panthers won, some people feel that the panthers received and unfair advantage and should be able to voice that, just as people are allowed to say that they didn't etc. All I have to say is if your sick of the "smash the P" tough nuts. They are the team to beat and with such a dominant rein they are going to be the center of attention, call it tall poppy syndrome or what ever you want, people like seeing david slay goliath. Long story short, your allowed to support your team and be proud, your even allowed to rub it in when they win, but don't have a cry when the reverse is given to you and your team. The anti P bs gets boring. The Panthers won it because they were the best on the night, wanted it the most, and had a bit of luck. It doesn't matter what the draw is, someone will always say it's rigged. If they win, they will always be accused of cheating. People always blame Miers, irrespective of him only being one of five out there. At the end of the day, Palmy does a lot for speedway. It puts on a premiere event, caters for all, helps every team, lends drivers to other teams so they can field a team. Why can't some of you turkeys just enjoy the spectacle without second guessing every action that happens on or off the track? The refs have a hell of a job making judgement calls on occurrences that happen in a split second, and they do this with the knowledge that all the keyboand warriors will be critiquing them. If you look beyond the keyboard warriors, purociqlism and once a year spectators, you will find that at competitor level, there is a huge amount of friendship and respect between the teams, and they are the best to judge. Don't ruin the spectacle, enjoy it. Do you enjoy watching rugby or some other sport you are passionate about? Do you sit there quietly as questionable decisions are made or do you have a little yell at the screen or from the sidelines? You sit there and keyboard warrior the keyboard warriors, do you tell other people being "passionate" about their sport to shut up and just enjoy the spectacle". I fail to see why the sport of speedway and more specifically teams racing seem to be so critical of criticism (oxymoron right there). I want to be very clear, my frustration isn't towards the drivers, they put their time, effort, money and most importantly, bodies (and lives if we're honest) on the line just so we can have "something to watch/do on a friday/saturday night". It's also not at the refs, sure they get it wrong from time to time (or to often depending on your point of view) but they are volunteers who also give their time and effort so we can again have ""something to watch/do on a friday/saturday night".

glad to see alstars win, need to drop ridland though Disagree with that comment. Ridland doesn't necessarily do anything spectacular, but a good team player, just like he always has been - including when with the KK Kings.

I don't disagree dirt_fan and one of the great things about the event is everyone turning up in their team colours. It makes it what it is. In many ways the teams champs is to speedway what the sevens were to rugby. But look at the sevens. One of the most successful events in NZ that sold out in minutes of ticket sales going on sale. BUT they listened to the whiners, the people who criticised everything, tried to cater for the minority, and reduced the even to a shadow of its former self that not doesn't sell out and is at risk of being lost. All I'm saying is that there is w right way wnd wrong way of supporting your team, but constantly dreaming up theories of cheating and using the benefit of slow motion replays and multiple scrutinisations of and incident on your laptop doesn't help the event. I don't believe that Palmy rig anything, but what they do do, is take teams racing very seriously, and they use the full season to prepare for teams. It's an event they are committed to, and it's becwuse of the preparation, practice and experience that they win, not by cheating. Last nights winner could so easily have been any one of w handful of other teams and personally I would love to have seen Wanganui win (in some ways, they did in my mind) but you can't deny that the panthers managed to get the first car across the line, and deserve the respect thwt goes with thwt

Honestly though with all the b/s around palmy at the moment who would want to be a superstock driver with a p on your car when other drivers are happy to take a dig at you in public over a minor difference in opinions What do you mean? I'm not sure the thoughts or actions of those involved prior to Teams Champs constituted a "minor difference in opinions"...or did they? Miers clearly wasnt happy with someone which shows his opinion is different to that of the driver who chose to not race

Dirt_fan: speedway is the sport I'm passionate about. I don't particularly enjoy rugby but I LOVE speedway. I'm involved, not as a competitor but as one of the thousands of race crew that give up their time to be involved in the sport. Of course I get excited when we, or some I want to win, does win. Yes, I get excited by something I don't think is right. But I also respect other competitors who I may not like "as much" winning and being successful. "Smash the P" is all good, I love that. But it's the constant slagging of the event, the rigging accusations etc and just the unsportsmanlike nature of some of the comments that gets boring. If speedway wants to be taken seriously (as you put it) then it's not too much to ask for a bit of good sportsmanship is it?

to win the teams you have to win 4 races that's what the panthers did they beat 3 seeded teams from last years champs and a team that had beaten them already this season all the teams go out there to do there best and put on a great show for use arm chair racers. like in other years the same can be said the busters or the scrappers or even the old palmy b team the 1st winners of the teams champs they beat the rest by being the best on the weekend regardless of what happen the referees made there calls we the arm chair racers have to take them meany times sport has it controversial decisions we can't change them so people only 364 days till it all happens again lets hope the drivers that have injuries recover and come back and put on the greatest show on dirt next year and for years to come.

Every Year there is an incident involving Miers Snr. Leave the rest to you. It begins with Ch... Absolute garbage and offensive too. I have just watched the final again with total focus on 8p. There was no attack off the grass. Watch again with both eyes. There was an indiscretion when he moved early after a red light stoppage but 1/ he checked up to restore the balance. 2/ it wasn't a game changer 3/ Removal from the race would have been unjustly harsh. If I was the ref I would have reminded him about waiting for the green light and/or a small fine. To put my post in perspective I'm one who watches every year to see one of my favorite teams beat the Panthers , Wanganui are one of my favorite teams. If you can't beat them on the track you're sure as heck not going to beat them with a keyboard. Making yourself appear small minded and one eyed is certainly within your ability though. Bit of a heavy handed reaction macgor - isn't it? At least 7 or more posters on this thread have mentioned Myres coming off the grass similar to'olefan'. Are you going to give the Baypark team a blast as well - for initiating the 'grass incident' appeal? Perhaps its time for some grumpy stressed out out fans to chill out, and head off to bed for a good nights sleep.

Right, I'll clarify something before I make my next comment, rules broken or not my previous statements stand........
That being said, I just watched the Brawlers v Panthers race and I would have to give 8p the benefit of the doubt. He went into the corner with speed but control (sorry macgor but he didn't seem out of control at all). That being said I highly doubt he could have braked and turned infield attempting to break contact giving any different result than what happened (57m being pushed wide). That or 8p had full situational awareness and throttled off while forcing 57m lightly wide knowing 88p was behind him. 8p either tried to break contact but couldn't, didn't try as hard as he could have and he is the only one who will ever truly know that. It was just very very fortunate (depending on who you support) that 88p was there to capitalize on the situation. I think this one is just bad luck for the Brawlers but can also see why people would be angry.
Oh I should add this is merely a "keyboard warriors" opinion based on video.

Macgor I believe the grass mowing incident was against baypark not the final! Watched again too , take a look. Such claims are absolute fantasy. Each time he was on the grass he was out of control as a result of contact on the track. To be straight up about it Scott Miers had his best most effective teams meeting in quite a while.(my opinion) Where were you seated Mr Macgor??? And what footage do you refer to??

Not at all Phil , to me that's 7 people or more distorting the truth. The surname is Miers btw. I don't know that Baypark initiated anything with the Ref do you?. My line in the sand is when people start calling or intimating drivers are cheats. None of the drivers I saw are cheats, some may have made errors.

Green lights are green. Grass is green. Both looked to be unrecognised to me. That camera angle is not as clear as the view from the turn 3 end of the grandstand looking directly into turn 3. More cameras and various angles would highlight the incident far better and clearer.

Seriously guys lets give the moaning a rest or take a deep breath & think about what u post. Give credit where its due..Panthers did the job beating all the top teams..not only that they did it using only 4 cars & drivers all weekend..along with a big team lineup change 2 weeks out. They did the job with patience & very good team work. They aren't even my team but full respect to them.
