Best change in years in my opinion, not looking at the program every time I want to know who's running or putting in the hits makes life a lot easier. Maybe I'm thick but I can memorise my teams numbers and put it against a name but who the hell was driving 123 from the bay? (example)

I think it's a fair question. Over the weekend I heard lots of people asking why Nelson were still running consecutive numbers while everybody else did what they were asked and changed their numbers. Team GB were doing theirs at scrutineering in the square on Friday

Check Nelson speedways website. Think you will find that the Tigers were running their reg'd numbers.

Thanks for clarifying that. Very convenient, lucky they didn't have any last minute team changes to muck up the numbering, ay?

Check Nelson speedways website. Think you will find that the Tigers were running their reg'd numbers. I believe they may have two sets of registered numbers each. That falls outside the intent of what Bruce was/is trying to do ("regular race numbers"), and yes Stevo (post above), it is a fair question. My point is that no amount of argument and debate on here is going to solve the issue (and there's already been a wheelbarrow load), so we might as well leave it to those who will be tasked with coming to an agreement. Yes Barry, I knew it wasn't quite kosher. See if they sort it for next year. Bit unfair on those that obeyed they intent that Bruce was going for.

At least this year we only had one team we had to check the programme for instead of 12!! That's gotta be a bonus. I can't really say I had a preference on whether to stick to previous years team numbers or to change to the format this year but I have to say now after the weekend I'd prefer the status quo to continue moving forward. Most of us who are keen followers know what numbers each driver races under.

Check Nelson speedways website. Think you will find that the Tigers were running their reg'd numbers. But haven't all or most teams got teams numbers that they have used until Palmy?. The drivers list on the Nelson site only has the drivers usual race numbers listed that I can see. Then there is a list with team numbers on the Tigers page. I can see any mention of some drivers having 2 different registered numbers.Ignore the first part of my post above , just went and had another look and got something different in the drivers list. Weird My gut feeling is the Tigers lost some mana last weekend by running with the team numbers instead of their proper racing numbers. Sad really.

I'm a stauch Tigers supporter, and I think it's great that my team has found a way to take a stand against the changes without breaking the rules. The Tigers gained even more mana from me taking a position, rather than following like sheep, but instead thought outside the box, love it!

Richard, some would argue it just made them appear up themselves by appearing to think they were bigger than the Teams Champs. If the Pommies could sort themslves out, there's really no reason why all of the locals teams couldn't. The other 10 did.
The changes were made for a reason, for the betterment of the meeting overall, so while they may have gained mana with you, penman and roxyford, it'd be interesting to know the overall feeling. Or maybe they're trying to take over the bad-boy mantel from the Panthers?
Overall, I'm just a little perplexed..........

Personally I'm struggling to see how they either gained or lost mana by doing what they did? For me it's what they do on the track that counts not what number they are running....

I don't think it reflected well on them. Most in my group (and we were a fairly large group of mixed supporters, so it's not just Palmy people saying it), were asking who Nelson thought they were by not doing as requested when all other teams did, did they think they were better than everyone else and that this didn't apply to them. Bit arrogant really, especially considering they didn't make it through.

Normally I'd agree with that comment, except that in this case the promotion (whose meeting it is) issued a directive to all teams 12 months ago about changes to this year's meeting. 11 teams followed up on that, 1 didn't. That team also finished in the bottom 1/3 of the field. Karma? Barry B

All that means, I suspect, is that the Nelson website is showing those drivers with numbers listed beside their names that are different to what they race on a normal Saturday night? Barry B
