in reguards to seating from turn 3 to turn 4 somewhere near the top seems to be most popular but on the bigger nights seating anywhere is hard enough if you start coming in later in avo and yep we got the problem at the 240's with people trying to sit in front of us as our chairs hard against the wooden retaining fixed by chilli bins and bags in front of us as to blocking view from people beside you ive seen people sit forward as to be right above the people below and have the gap behind I guess its personal preference as to were you sit at end of day

That's funny SWP - exactly my thoughts! Actually I'm wondering how I can beat them pesky campers who "reserve" the prime piece of grass on turn 2 and end up taking my space!  |

Please Rotorua please police those pesky people who put tarpaulin,blankets and deck chairs all over the place. It such a waste of space. I went to the 240's this year I was even their at 6 and was trying to find a place to sit my bum. There were blankets with no one sitting on them at 7pm. They should have been removed by the security as paying specator tries to remove them your liable for a bashing. Had people by us that had put their deck chairs up to the edge of the retaining wall, if they had put them back against the wall we and others could have sat in front of them without blocking there view. Pay a lot of money and traveling to go to watch these premier events and don't want to have to send hours before a meeting just to find a place to sit. Contemplating not even going this next year and any major events next year because of the hassle of having to spend hours before a meeting to find a seat.

Even some locals arrive before the 3 pm deadline to place chairs and rugs.

People are always saying get more perfessional in speedway. I can good to a concert, other sports event and don't need to get there 4hours before a event. I would say you paid "$10" to park your camper not to reserve grass.

Totally agree with Fearless , Lorryathuntly , I travel to Rotorus regularly and I spend more than $10 for the privilege 2 stay overnight, Yr attitude sucks , my first post seems to have been censored or deleted. |

Few things have popped up over the last week or two that mean I'm questioning if I will go to this event now and the seating issues are one of the factors that is helping decide, I think the above posting has actually just helped make up my mind. |

Fearless raises the deck chair issue something I raised in the 240 threads last month. It would be good if the positioning of deck chairs was better policed for the big meetings. Some people just don't care about those around them. In my opinion all deck chairs should be back in line with the wooden seats if you're on the back straight....problem solved. I find this the most frustrating thing about attending the big meetings at Paradise Valley. It's ok for your normal club night when there's plenty of room but when space is at a premium for these big meetings something needs to be done about it although I acknowledge it's a difficult thing to police. This is where I don't mind paying an extra $10 for a reserved seat, can wander the pits for an hour knowing my seat is waiting for me like at the Palmy Teams.

It is annoying when you get their very early to get a good seat and spend the afternoon sitting in the sun and then people arrive at 6:45pm and want the best seat in the house. I don't think people should have to put their seats at the back of each level on the back straight as there needs to be a walk way along each level for people and then you would have people sitting in front of you (fine if they stay seated during racing) but then you get people walking back and forward all night in front of you as well. Sure reserved seating is good but not all tracks can do it or want to and look at the disaster Welly did with night 1 of the NZ Superstock Champs |

She has no problem with tarps being placed before the meeting and felt previous comments on Macgors were a 1 off. In fact she feels good seeing them as she knows it is going to be a good night. I think that some very good things have happened in the RSCC during Sonja's involvement but I think she is wrong in this instance. The frustration felt by patrons who have spent good time and money travelling to this event only to see so much seating covered in blue should not be underestimated. There is a good chance this will cause problems resulting in fans not returning to the track. |

The doctor from the “tribe of happy campers” said "We need to make sure that everyone is ok. Any bones broken?" The sociologist from the same tribe said “Hmm we need to commence a scientific study of social behaviour to investigate this” Observing the melee from inside the track is one of the track preparation specialist who spends hours developing the perfect racing surface for the drivers and thousands of spectators who attend meetings. He is also a master problem solver. Belying his age, he leaps over the safety fences in a single bound and strides up to the warring tribes. He has a steely frown on his face! Tension cuts the air as the two tribes wait with unnerving expectancy. Finally the man says “What we gotta do is take the tarp back up to the top of terrace two and see if this happens again!." |

I think that the frustrating part about tarps being placed is not the fact that they are being put there, but the fact that they often cover an area that can accommadate 7 or 8 bums but only 4 turn up to sit there. I have seen this often this from the infeild and have see how people get pevved off with it. If feel that because you have paid to enter the venue and you get there eary to place the tarp doesn't entitle you to take heaps more room than required for your group. The fact that a tarp has been placed, does show that there will be people going to be seated there. So ..... PLEASE .... those that are placing tarps, be considerate when asked if you could just shuffle along a bit to allow others to enjoy the awesome meeting about to happen and don't get all upset.
I for one, was considering traving up for this meeting, but am unable to leave home up to 10 hours before the meeting starts to get a seat. (I'll still probley go anyway)

Another issue with the tarps is that people lay them right across the walking path on the terraces . If you have a spot to sit in the middle its like an obstacle course to try get out if need be .The filthy looks and bad comments from some of these tarp owners gets the blood boiling a bit ..Plenty more seating would be created without them...

Agree Charlie. Any tarps that block the pathway is a safety issue and needs sorting out. Actuallly can Boof and the boys regularly police the turn 1 and 2 fence? 1. People block the view of the disability holders 2. It is a safety issue. I've seen children playing on the fence and have raised this issue with the security boys at times. A quiet word in the ear of the people will move them along nicely. 3. Boof needs to be kept busy - he's not getting younger and needs the exercise! |
