So, anyjuan know if Wanganui put the Rees Sheild up in the end? No they have to put it up once in a teams event during season. Did that at Meanee so don't have to this weekend. It's locked up in the cabinet

How good is that 1st quarter final! Bit disappointed with the w v v race, would have preferred both to race a different team - hard to support two teams at once.... Lol

The track definitely was the winner on the night, Mintie summed it up best by describing it as 'claggy' but it evened a few teams up. Gizzy and Rotorua looked the best to me, both very strong. Our Auckland boys had a tough night but we have an unenviable record of losing to the eventual winner so maybe a lazy $20 on Canterbury or Stratty is in order... one point I will make at the risk of stirring things up is if you have ring ins in your team and you leave your real drivers on the infield all night, at what point on finals night do you use your club guys who have never raced in a teams meeting or at Rotorua before? Will it be a hospital pass or stick with your ring ins? I guess it comes down to how bad you want the big prize and winning this title is a big prize. With the track expected to be as per normal high standard tonight, I thing Welly will be a real threat. Go raiders or Rascals!!!

Ringins in stock teams. These drivers obviously really just want to race and put on a show because in the long run they are actually aiming to help another club win the event and then take that event to their track next year. Example, Knight, Prentice and Lane racing for CHCH. SO if they win the event and host it next year with these guys help as ringins all other teams then need to travel to the south island to attend the event. And these ringins have actually in theory helped to take the event away from their home tracks.
People getting all excited and a bit wah that super stock drivers race for other clubs. They do it to simply teams race, to put on a show. Some teams benefit from the ringins in supers by learning from them and improving themselves etc and also by being able to muster enough cars to actually participate. Stratford for example next weekend. The S drivers of 41s, 42s and 75s will benefit hugely from racing with the rees in their team. They will learn tactics, grow in confidence and get to race in an event that ate last 2 of them have not raced at before. It promotes the club, grabs attention and is exciting for its supporters and the wider spectator community. Similar to V at palmy where 2 cars were from palmy but the locals welcomed them with open arms.
On the racing. Qtr winner to be G, W, C and the closest semi will be RvS but lean to R on form. That will make for great semis. GvR and WvC.

I was there last night. The 3 Rees cars are almost identical except the numbers. Imagine "G" running 4 indentical tanks?? only from memory , a wing change needed. The hits that most of the tanks put on others , just ruined most teams chances. I believe no-one will get near "G". tonight as they appeared faster than any others and certainly increased speed as did the track allow. I agree with a previous post about leaving locals out but if the "G" club want the trophy and the event , that is a calculated cost. As far as the tarps in front of the disabled carpark , most who wanted to watch the big screen had to move further around turn 2 . The cardboard cut out on turn 3 was brilliant until the rain.
