Yep for sure Charlie strong showing because palmy cars work as a team at individual titles as well incorporate that line of thinking into two Rotorua based teams (let's be honest it's been missing for awhile)at individual and teams meetings and you have a recipe for strong representation.lance Aldridge is a perfect example of what I'm trying to say excluded last season but year before was team member of the year all this because we had no second team then he was lost to bay park brawlers that's were my real issue lies accommodate them or loose them to rival tracks it can only benefit the club and sport as a whole by running two teams include a second team in the all stars fixture at Rotorua in November a tri series of sorts two races each and see what transpires

Spot on there .
To be honest , I couldn't understand why there was a place for Lance Aldrige in last years Rebels .
As he proved with the Brawlers he is a very valuable team member.

Im willing to bet there wont be 16 teams running at Palmy , my guess is that it will be trimmed back to 12 or 14 .
As per usual everyone is making assumptions before the drivers / clubs / teams even know themselves.
I would say that all clubs that can front a team will get first call and an extra team if there is a shortage , which doesn't look likely .
It will just be a waiting game until a bit closer to the big event and see whos set to go..
All sounds good from the fans side of things , but im pretty sure Bruce Robertson will be happy with 12 teams showing up .
The stadium is gonna be packed as it is every year , so will Bruce be keen to shell out extra $$$$$$$$$$ to bring more teams .
Not too hard to do the maths.

If there were to be 16 teams the die hard fans will be in for a real treat...... what ever tickets are left they would fly out the door.
It would make no sense to run 14 teams its either 12 or 16 and I know which option I would prefer!!!!

I guess if Mt Smart was an option then seating 20k + plus wouldn't be a problem..........
The big question is would 20k+ plus turn up if there were to be 12 or more teams as the norm is 6 to 8 and 9 on a good day.....
If it got the air time and some show casing around some malls then who knows???

after doing some thinking. 16 teams would be better than 13, 14, and 15. and also fairer than the 12 team used at the moment. seeding every team in order 1 to 16 depending upon last years finishing places. 1 races 16. 2 races 15. loser of the first 8 races are out. leaving 4 quarter finals to race. so by the end of quailfing (i really can't spell, sorry guys) you have left with 4 semi finalists and they are all undefeated. as for the losers of the first 8 races they go into the superstock consolation races. reaced after the 8th team race and after the 3rd quarter. open to any superstock from any track. so 14 races for quailfing.

But all that would likely do is to weaken many of the regional teams. As for your format, yes, it works, but I don't think the teams (NOR their fans) would appreciate going to all of the effort that goes into presenting (or following) a 5 car team at Palmerston North, purely for one race. The same teams don't appear year after year either, never have, so who races who would always be in dispute, even if you could get 16 teams each year. And for a lesser team, going in the knowledge that your only race is against the defending champions? It's a pretty tough ask........ Barry B |
