From the Rebels facebook (in part): "The Rebels Superstock Squad for the 2015/2016 season will consist of: 10R Graham McRobbie 23R Lance Ashton 24R Heath Lochhead 25R Scott McEwen 33R Robbie Mabey 37R Ken Hunter 44R Jason Riedinger 45R Nick Vallance 81R Damian Orr 82R Darcy Meurant 98R Gary Hunter 118R Bryce Steiner 138R Russell Hunter 351R Paul Vazey 434R Richard Mahy Our first outing will be at Paradise Valley Raceway to take on the Auckland Allstars on the 28th of November" Fantastic work Nick is getting a committment from these drivers so early in the season and what leadership skills available! Good to see Damien Orr in there and three Hunter's. There must be a degree of confidence in the 37 R so early in the season for Ken to put his name forward. The Rebels in the past have promised much and underdelivered at times - this is a good start for the team!

I'd like to see an overhaul of the team and see a group of young guys like Orr, K Hunter join one or two from last year and build from there. I've always felt that Rotorua has one of the strongest teams on paper each year going off individual names but it never seems to translate to overall success

Agree in part Jeffery. Early days yet but I would love to see Ken Hunter make the Rebels squad. The challenge continues to be for 37 R - consistent money/resources. 37 R has at times "run on the smell of an oily rag". This is not being disrespectful to Ken and the team but it has only been the skill and the passion and dedication of the drivers (Darcy Jnr) and team that has made them competitive with others who have far more resources and money. Could Nick attract sound sponsorship that is the catalyst for 37 R to be a regular and viable Rebel member?

Nice to see a large pool putting there names forward. I see the core of Steiner, Ashton, Vallance as certainties as they have speed and experience. Add to that Richard Vazey and the is space for only one more. Would like to see a second team race to gain experience. Exciting times ahead for the Rebels!

Everyone and anyone who pursues any form of motorsport are aware of the costs involved . Teams racing is a hell of a lot more demanding with the costs of spares , travel , repairs etc .I would say that most teams racers have this covered . Theres a familiar saying [ If you cant afford it ,then don't do it ]

Surprised not to see David Ellsworth put his name forward. Has been super quick for the busters over recent seasons and I thought was registered to Rotorua.

David Elsworth would be a welcomed asset to any team and certainly impressed with the Busters. I did hear that he wouldn't be doing a lot of racing this season , which is really his own business. People have to acknowledge that drivers do have a life outside speedway.

Looking at the Rees open day , it would appear that Lance Aldridge has been lost permanently to the Baypark Brawlers ....

I'm pretty sure its meant to be Paul Vazey ex 351a who raced for the Rebels at WP Teams nationals last year and I think also at PN.

From the Rotorua Rebels facebook page "Get ready race fans..We have our first teams race for the season coming up on the 28th of November against the Auckland Allstars at Paradise Valley Race way.The team racing on the night will be:
44R Jason Reidinger 45R Nick Vallance 81R Damian Orr 93R Gary Hunter" end of quote.
In my opinion with Steinie, Lala Ashton and P Vazey not racing at the last meet at Rotorua 14 Nov 15 it appeared to be a good opportunity for the above drivers to have a hit out - good call management to build depth and experience. This is not a bad team! All the best to both teams Rebels and the All Stars.
