Did Mr Ward get bumped into the title entry did he? Haven't heard from the updated entry list myself, but yeah nah In My Humble Opinion I think that the best Stockcar driver from last season is in. I personally think that 1NZ, 2NZ, 3NZ should be automatically in to defend their rankings. Well for 1nz and 3nz superstock teams racing is just around the corner

Having never been to the Huntly track, will I be in for a bad time if I turn up at 5:30pm on Sat for the finals? Long drive to be turned away.

Earlier would probably be better, Huntly has only ever turned away people once in the last 16 years according to Mintie Mead, and that was this year at the Fireworks meeting, chances are you will have a bit of a walk to get from your car to the track, and limited seating options.

If matthew7 is correct, and I'm not doubting him, then considering the size and importance of the event having no live stream or even live laps is pretty poor in this day and age. At least in my opinion anyway.

At least in my opinion anyway. There is no Live Laps and there is no live stream.........a number of tracks I know of have encountered ELS problems and the likes at different times over the years, and shazam! Unplug Live Laps and everything works again. Huntly is one of those. I have noooooo idea what the issue is. Co-incidence? Perhaps. But as I say, I know of a number of tracks where that has happened. The same as when Video Hub, Speedbox, StM and the like plug in, sometimes other things have stopped working for a time at the track, things that are vital the the club running the event, competitors competing in the event and to those that have paid to attend the event. Maybe one day all tracks will have to upgrade their infrastructure, designed to cope with Live Streams and Live Laps. But who will pay for that? Those that are wanting to plug in and use the data flowing out I imagine, so that will be Live Laps and the streaming services, and those using those services will have the costs passed on to them. Be under no illusion, no club has any obligation to cater for those that choose to follow a meeting off-site. I think we live in a generation where many people both want and expect their entertainment to be delivered to their lounge room and for free; their movies, their music and now their speedway. As an old fart, I'm from a different ilk........ Barry B

I understand what you are saying there, BarryB. And you are right about tracks having to eventually upgrade, especially if they are serious about hosting such major events. Speedway is about entertainment, and getting it out there to as many people as you can is more relevant today than it has ever been. As for funding such upgrades, unless there is a magic money man or two around options are probably somewhat limited. My initial thinking was that a surcharge on entry tickets to the event arena was possibly the way to go, but upon reflection that is putting the cost soley onto those that regularly attend speedway in person and thus is not fairly spreading the costs. Maybe it will come down to "the cost of the few for the benefit of the many", as Spock would have said. As for being an old fart, you haven't got that on your own....lol. I didn't start racing until I was 22, and that was for the '75/'76 season.

I think it has to be "user pays", as so much of our life is today. It's certainly not fair to tax the people actually attending the tracks to subsidise those that don't/can't/won't. I accept there are always genuine cases where people cannot attend certain events; hey, we cannot all get to every meeting, we would not all FIT into every meeting, but some people waste money hand over fist on all sorts of things and then bleat about not being able to afford to travel to a speedway meeting. Spend however much you like on whatever you like, I don't care, but don't bleat about not being able to afford a meeting when you smoke like a chimney and are trollied every weekend. It's about priorities and you've made your choices.
Some people are just too bone idle to arrange to get to a meeting, preferring to bleat at the last minute about a lack of a stream, free or otherwise. You know at which track all of the major meetings are for the next 5 seasons. You'll know approximately 6-8 months out exactly what date those meetings will be on. If you really want to be there, you'll should start planning now!!!

Got to agree with you. I don't get around like I'd like, but that's the way it is nowadays. Pick your events and go from there. Now, if those magic numbers come up tonight I'll be able to go to where ever the desire takes me. Yeah right, lol.

What an amazing night's racing last night. The action started with the very first heat of the first group, and never let up all night. Some of the hits going in were absolutely massive. Jayden Ward, Josh Prentice and Jay Knight were the standouts, but that may also mean they attract unwanted attention.
From a totally parochial point of view I was delighted to see 8V Jamie Baguley qualify for the finals. Dion Mooney has a good grid in the second repecharge, and if he makes the field he will have an impact one way or the other. With three tiers of Stockcars tonight, plus consolations, plus 26 Superstocks racing for the Waikato Champs, it's going to be another fantastic night of action.
Well done to the Huntly crew; great effort.

I just have two wishes for tonight's event
#1 People who bring deck chairs either sit up the back or are instructed to put their chairs down and sit on the benches/grass. When people erect their deck chairs in the middle of the benches it takes out 2-3 rows per deck chair. Those who erect their chairs on the grass take out a large portion of usable embankment. On a normal night it's not an issue but for what will be a big crowd tonight I hope this issue has been thought about and acted upon.
#2 The schedule is changed so the championship heat 3 is not the final race. The two reasons why you don't do this is because #1 there can be a run-off and #2 the Huntly carpark will take an hour to clear after the event. The championship races should be events #6, 11, 16 to allow a couple of events after heat 3 to sort out if there will be a run-off and to help clear the carpark.
Should be a great night.
