Legally Drivers and Officials can not bet/arent suppose to be as they determine/can determine the outcome of a race... just as Jockeys, Cricketers and other sports people cant... We were having this discussion at work the other day regarding betting and speedway as I work in the racing industry and with guys from TAB and found this to be the outcome... Just as I cant not bet on any Horse or Dog races I am working at as a photofinish could influence the outcome of a race.

50% chance Gizzy will be in a group with a P team, either Panthers or Mustangs. Both top 4 last year so seeded into groups and to be joined by others, of which G is one

Maybe this could stop people saying it is rigged- 4 seeded team - A,B,C,D 8 other teams allocated number 1-8 prior to the race Pick a greyhound race ( 8 dogs usually in that ) or another event with 8 competiotrs, Then the order they finish is the order they get allocated ie finishing order 4,5,8 3,2,1,6,7 A pool now includes 4 and 2 B Pool now includes 5 and 1 C Pool now includes 8 and 6 D Pool now includes 3 and 7
No human intervention at all- The draw has gone to the Dogs!!!

Bustybell would still allege that the canines were nobbled..........and would be worried about any trained in Palmerston North.

Whenever the draw takes place and by whatever medium it takes place, you can bet there will be howls of outrage from the usual suspects about it being rigged in Palmerston North's favour; eh Busterbell Bottom line: to be the best, you have to beat the best. Very insulted that you mentioned Buster and not me inventory My pick is that the Giants and Tigers have already been drawn in the same group.

I'm hoping the draw is rigged so we get to see Giants vs Panthers on night 1 Now I'm sure there will be plenty of ppl saying, wouldn't you rather see them against the mustangs? But I see what you have done there in setting up a dream final or semi at worst.

As much as I am a tigers supporter, I just can't get my head around any possible advantage that a team may get by who their opponents are in the pool stages.
Obviously all teams want to be racing at the thick end of the weekend. The goal is to be racing on night 2 and in meaningful races, not the consolations.
But is the hope of a "weaker" pool at the expense of meeting tougher opponents in battle-weary cars and drivers later on. To win it you're going to have to beat a top team or 2 at some stage, wouldn't it be preferable to do it with good gear and fit drivers?? Or is it that you hope that someone else will strike it good and knock the team you fear out of the competition so that you don't have to face them in the semi's or final??
If you get knocked out of the group stages, it won't be because you had a tough draw, it will be because you weren't good enough.

seeded teams earn an advantage from the get go. if you get past the pool stage any team you meet with from there on in will be a tougher assignment. those that have a easier ride getting there will be better equipped to handle the increase in intensity. this is where "the fittest will survive" analogy fits in. those that have been smashed to bits will have a tougher time against those that have cruised. the hope of any team will be that the two other opposing sides smash the crap out of each other.

2 palmy teams in groups that meet each other in semi. So if both do happen to win groups and face each other in semi then a P team guaranteed finals spot.

seeded teams earn an advantage from the get go.
Did the seeded team in the Palmy/Mustangs/Tigers pool last year have an advantage?? Being seeded does not guarantee an "easier" pool.
Admittedly there is also a degree of luck involved somewhere along the weekend as well. Some cars have been known to be temperamental and just stop dead for seemingly no good reason, then fire up just as the chequered flag drops. Either way in most cases, the team that has won this event has generally deserved to do so.

easier may not be the appropriate word to use. a seeded team has the advantage of more time between races. this is a vast advantage and what makes a good performance much more rewarding.
