Shane Harwood had hit the back of another car and started to turn sideways when Wayne Hemi hit him.and yes you could see what Wayne was going to do but momentum and commited to hit all a factor

There's a short video, or two on FB showing the hit - will sort out the argument, and start another one.
Sure someone with more motivation than I will try and post it. Must get ready for night two!

What happened to young William Humphries car 94p as he was driving a Barr car he must of had problems late to have to borrow a car. Talking to Williams dad they blew up their car so borrowing Rebecca's. Apparently spent some time at harrisville with jack miers learning where to hit etc. and wrote off both side rails and both bumpers

Still think there needs to be something done about when one team takes out another's lead car illegally instead of one car to the infeild. Why didn't any more people pick up on the Stratford car vs wanganui selling sanctuary on the infeild letting both cars past then racing on. Seems a little unfair

Panthers were a car down(not coming out the gate) for the Hawkes Bay clash. What was the issue/reason?.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a bit of black tape fix that

I would have thought a 3 minute bell would have fixed that

The Go Pro situation was what they told us initially but then later on the commentator said after speaking with Scott Miers that is was "politics" that keep Jack off the track??

I've not seen it - I've only read about it on here (which, as always, is completely factual, unbiased and looked at from a totally neutral perspectve - maybe this should have gone in the Tui Ads thread), but from what I've read, Harwood had two wheels over the pole line when he was hit. His FB picture appears to show the damage on the left rear quarter of the car, which suggests that he was hit towards the left, which again suggest that Hemi was further over the pole line than Harwoord was. However, it may just have been the angle Hemi went it. Some argue that you can't tell if a car is over the pole line or not...but I seem to remember a certain Nelson driver being excluded from a race result at this very event not too many years ago for dropping below the pole line during a race - a decision that effectively forced Nelson out of the running for the event. The most used reply on the issue was that he was committed to the hit long before impact. If you assume that the 2 cars were on the track when he became committed, then moved to the infield, then if he himself were on the track he should have missed them? Also, if he was on the track and they weren't then he must have changed course of make contact? Therefore, if he never changed course then he must have been on the grass to start with Having not seen it, I can only surmise....but your logic makes sense.

The Palmy selectors need sacking after last nights efforts..what did Simon Joblin do to earn selection into the Panthers.. No one was prepared to block vs Hawkeyes..was like they didn't want to damage their cars.. I guess that makes the Panthers Palmys C team haha

What a night I don't believe there would be a punter out there that didn't get his or hers money worth of excitement, drama, atmosphere and the buzz around the arena. We all were treated to an epic 1st nights racing from the first flag was dropped I wish I had eyes in the back of my head because of the action happening at all corners of the track. You normally see the 1st round of races in each group a bit more calculated by each team........ however last night the tactic's seem to be attack attack and was Hard and Furious. Massive upsets through the night and the normal script of 1st night racing was thrown out the door and torched..... Who would of thought that the Tigers, Panthers, Warriors and Busters would not be in the top 4..... TAB must be rubbing there hands together....... I think the Lions had the easiest draw and didn't sustain much damage much like the Hawkeyes...... I do feel for 1NZ and the hit by Hemi and how would of this had it not happened where would the Tigers had placed?? and only fielding 3 cars for their 2nd race didn't help their cause.... Eagles given the changes to the team they did really well and beating the Panthers and was deserved as the Panthers didn't race as a team of old ..... yes I know its a new team but these guys have raced in the Mustangs.... Busters didn't have any luck and again a new team from last year.... Rebels has a new team and tho they won their 1st race they showed in their 2nd race they need more racing to form a good team .... I think they missed Steiner... The Giants look good on paper and in both their races were all class even after 75g got nailed in turn 1. They look the goods as do Hawkeyes and believe they are the 2 teams that should be in the final!!.... Warriors were unlucky not to be the scrappers in their 1st race and as predicted that race would be to the death and it was!!!
Buzzing already for tonight and what will unfold...........
I suspect some teams crews have worked through the night to have their cars ready for tonight and BIG ups for doing that!!!!!

Yes, Shane had spun up another car...but there's little doubt from that video that Wayne lined him up, but definitely ducked considerably below the pole line across the corner to get him. Committed? Maybe Illegal? Yes Was it avoidable? Don't know....but it's no better than a car losing control on the straight, sliding backwards across a slippery infield and then taking someone out after rejoining the track with no control. Have seen it happen at this event before, and that driver also got parked.

Yep was a weight issue as car was, I understand a mere 1 kgs over and they were not aloud to touch the car to take any weight out, ie the camera or fuel. 1kg if weight was not the Panthers biggest issue, but as someone has posted, the relevance for next year's draw and seeding is mouth watering - I'd be rebooting accommodation. Last night was absolutely incredible and I've never seen a more excited winner/driver. God I love this sport! It's the greatest event in the world. Can u imagine the crowd reaction when/if the Hawkeyes/Lions Giants/Mustangs win? As fans we can't really lose can we?!

So we now have a camera issue, "Politics"" and a weight problem. Another post saying a car was damaged practicing hits at Harrisville prior. Hmmm.

Panthers were a car down(not coming out the gate) for the Hawkes Bay clash. What was the issue/reason?. Car randomly weighed before race. Scales fluctuating between 1-2 kgs overweight although being fine at scruitineering. Was cleared to race until just before heading onto track and was told couldn't race.

You could blame me for that sorry, as I tried to find out the circumstances as to why Jack Miers did not come out for race 1. I was told it was something to do with camera, later I raced into the pits and spoke with Scott Miers who obviously wasn't thrilled about something, but he did not want to get into it at the time. After the meeting in the pits I found out it was a weight issue. So apologies if the order and delay getting the info creates concern, but it is extremely difficult to get the answers immediately, but that was a very hectic night, compounded by the multiple power outages made it a very testing but incredible night.
