A personal bugbear of mine is the lack of correspondence between officials and the paying public.
Every other sport on the planet makes sure fans are informed with regards to officiating decisions except New Zealand Speedway. I'm not sure what the problem is with keeping fans informed but is it any wonder rumour and innuendo gets out of control when the fans are not informed about what's going on in the meeting they have paid to attend?
Having been the person on the mic, it also gets really ugly really fast when ' oh but XXXXX said via the PA' gets used as a counter protest when someone (usually a family or crew member) is full of emotion and a call has be made, overturned, re made, protested etc etc
Tennis does, as you mention Rugby & league do. American football prob does it better than anyone else. F1 does it well now. cricket... mmm, not so much. but I'm sure we could get a couple of sentences from a ref after each race in the same way the judge calls the official placings for the first 6 horses over the line at the gee gees
