Agree with everthing McFly and Macgor said. It was very well constructed and very comprehensive. also points from others.
I don't think the banking is ideal at all, but I don't think you can fix that. Would almost suggest we only need to worry about that for one more year without the Rees. No disrespect to the others but massive cars to fill, for they guys that want to add to the team.
Pre-event build up. This was taking on board by a third party. This is the event to crow about. Sell it to the world.
The parade was early but I would rather that than late, and hold up the meeting.
Can we do 2 hot laps, rather than 4? I know the drivers need it (ish) but things drag.
Commentators, not easy. I helped for the NZ saloons and it is not easy. However you need a Barry Brown, Mel Sines, Paul Hickey, Mintie of the likes to add the knowledge and experience to the locals. From my experience there they need money to be spent on equipment, or expertise. The most knowledgeable commentator was Ramjam and he couldn't be heard most of the time.
There needs to be a better source of info to the commentators as they seem to only be able to give unofficial results. There was also nothing re protests or relegation's etc. I understand a lot happened outside the meeting.
Biggest plus as always was the drivers, and crew. Absolute amazing commitment from all drivers. No matter where this meeting the drivers were the stars. I am picking there were some broken people. My thoughts are that, other than the back straight, the wall has no lip, Drivers can't scrub off speed once caught. Same for everyone, but massively destroyed gear ( worst than other teams I think) and some hurt guys.
I would like to know what the drivers thought of the track.
I was negative towards the meeting before. I think the club can act on the the things needed apart from the banking. Gizzy did well, but still question the whole venue.
One thing I almost forgot was the format. Maybe I thought it was a Palmy format and struggled to understand what was happening . I certainly didn't realise, and don't think I was informed that it was the top 8 teams overall went through rather than top two in the four groups. Not sure I like 1 vs 8, as opposed to the Palmy format.
Well done Gisborne for your first up effort, Onwards and upwards now you have it a second year.
Ooops one more thing, the blue tarps were an issue. Security didnt sort that. The non banded people in the pit area were also an issue and wasn't sorted till after 8 on the Sat night.
Club a solid 7 out of ten,
Crews 9 out of ten for repairing cars and keeping them going.
Drivers at least 11 out of ten. Please keep doing it.
Auck for Sat this weekend.
You gotta love teams racing.
