From where we sat the final was one of the toughest teams races we have witnessed All the drivers are to be acknowledged - that was a hell of a battle. 8 drivers rose to the occasion and left nothing on the track. Their combined experience meant few mistakes were made and the racing was hard and torrid. I type this moved by a rare display display of intensity commitment, skill and bravery. I salute you all.

I would have to agree with everything you say! That was the best teams race I have seen. Every one of them out in that track gave it their all! Well done to both teams.

AMEN to that, almost a religious experience.
What impressed me equally was how both teams handled themselves, one humble in victory, and the other gracious in the face of defeat. On the track and in the pits following this most classic of battles, the mutual respect between these two teams was clear and evident for all to see.

The best and most brutal race I've seen too. Glad everyone is still in one piece. There were some pretty messy looking cars after it. Well done to the Giants and Panthers for a wicked final.

It was definitely the best final, if not the best teams race that I have seen for a while. Compliments to all of the drivers for the passion and desire that they all showed to put on the show. It was unreal.
Did anyone else think it was a longest teams race we have had for a while as well? I thought Scott Joblin did 16 laps. I looked on the results board at the track after the meeting to see if I was right but the finals results hadn't been posted.

Undoubtedly the best teams race I have seen. Often the races prior are better than the final but this final was top shelf stuff. For me the major difference here was we had two teams who have probably the best machinery and this proved to be the case as both teams went the distance mechanically, beating each other into submission. In the end it was almost a shame that one team had to lose. I thought the Panthers had made a mistake leaving Peter Bengston to sit it out.
The other race from the weekend that stood out was the Allstars win against the Mustangs. Another bruising race that was won by the Allstars, almost through the driving of Jamie Ferguson whose taking out of Shaun Pearson swung the race the Allstars way despite the awesome efforts of Richard Hart.
Driver of the weekend for me was Jack Meirs followed by Ferguson.
Thanks to all involved for putting on a great show!!

what a punishing race. best race for a few years. since mustrags vs warriors where only one car barely made it to the line. and scott fell 5 metres short.

Check out the Video Board Mordecai. To be honest I didn't think watching the video did the race any justice. Being there you didn't know where to look!!!

I've just watched Petrolfumes' video, and yes, what a final. This hits that were going in were brutal, although none was quite as brutal as the Jack Miers hit on Ryan Hunt on Friday night; that was as hard a hit as I have seen in a long time.
Just a question though, to anyone who has a better knowledge of the rules than me (which will be most of you); what is the rule on bonnets in teams racing? I remember Daryl Taylor getting sent to the infield after an Auckland car drove across his bonnet, destroying it at Palmy a few years ago. Asher Rees suffered major damage to his bonnet halfway through the race, and it times it was flapping about in the breeze, looking as though it was about to part company completely. Would the referee have been considering stopping the race because of the potential of a very loose bonnet flying off?

I noticed that in the video as well & commented on it, loose bonnets have been considered a safety hazard for the drivers previously & no bonnet has definitely been enough for a car to be removed

Certainly once the bonnet has departed cars have been pulled off. I suspect if we pulled every car off that was no longer legal due to damage there might not be many left to finish the race. Loose wheel guards etc. are different as they are a danger to others.
