Thats good because we dont need negative people like you around. As hopefully we will have another good meeting this weekend as we did last weekend. I know and get that a large enthusiastic crowd gives the racers a bit of a Giddy Up but don't fool yer selves into thinking that a crowd that comes to see a Demolition Derby and the FMX bikes gives a fat rats arse about speedway, or any particular class. What you should, no NEED to do is give them an exciting night of racing and hope some of them return when there is real racing and not just novelty events. They will prob get a good crowd this week as well with fireworks, but make no mistake 9 out of every 10 ppl will be there for the crackers at a good big venue, not the bangers racing at a big unsuitable venue.

They will prob get a good crowd this week as well with fireworks, but make no mistake 9 out of every 10 ppl will be there for the crackers at a good big venue, not the bangers racing at a big unsuitable venue. So very true. Also speedway people don't return if they go home looking like the colour of the track. Dust is the biggest turn off for spectators. Also if the track is not prepared for the classes running, example ,if you present a one lane race track and you then have follow the leader for X laps,no outside passing, when the cars do go for an outside pass but go backwards ,spectators go home bored. Some tracks don't water until race day, slush on top bone dry underneath, one race , and then dust etc. Ramjam, your track would be one that has some consistency but is prepared by some very experienced people, same as Huntly. This question has been asked before, but does any track Promotor that have spectators leaving early ask them why? The simple answer is that if the paying public don't leave the track happy they don't come back. Being a Speedway Promoter is not an easy task, requires some special skills, and the back up staff also have to be skilled in their respective positions.

Gez Jimmy, you need to get used to the fact that some tracks outside Western Spring can and do put on good racing. Lucky only dedicated racing people read to forum, otherwise your negativity would put anyone of going to any racing. Bring on tomorrow night, big field of Stocks worth watching anywhere.

You are so right there Gordon just not Baypark because of the track with all its problems as a lot of people have said about before on here ,
Just look at the photos Murray has posted etc ..

For the average punter to come watch whether its for novelty events or not, most are not privy to any problems around a speedway, and I would bet they're not any issues that many tracks around don't have to deal with as well. Baypark just has a few extra hoops to deal with being council owned. Murray's photos were from a couple of days ago and we have been lucky to have had good weather since, rain is hardly an isolated issue when it comes to speedway. Western springs luxury is pure population based. My personal belief is that speedway has a lot of competition now from the likes of drifting which is alluring a large number of younger followers. Figure out how to make speedway more attractive to them and your competitor and spectator numbers will increase big time.

List updated, currently 41. Many thanks to those that have helped push this event for us, Murray Guy, Graham Hughes and many others including and our own club members, would totally have struggled to get this amount of interest and numbers without you guys and girls, and thanks to all that have decided to travel for it, you all rock. Bring on turn 1.

Woken to a lovely day in Tauranga (a couple of hours back)! Bodes well for track prep and great racing. Hopefully competitors will load up and head for Baypark Family Speedway in their droves to show of their skills in front of 6-7000 spectators. The best opportunity to showcase our sport and respective classes!

Looking forward to it tonight. Finish off my spectators season with some good stuff on the dirt and an easy get away while people look skyward.

It is the normal start time? Most tracks start earlier at this time of year, but I'm picking BP with all of its rules and regulations wouldn't be able to entertain that idea....
