Heard Otago was going to have a side again and also Blenheim. 16 teams in 2018, unless the Rotorua Rookies and Stratford Gladiators show up and we have 18 for 2018. Don't forget the Nelson Vipers, Central AVD team, Team Green, Te Marua Terminators and the Warlords so quite possibly at least 23 teams so will be run over 3 nights. ye where is this warlord team

ok so no Wanganui warriors is disappointing but understand wea they are at
so with Wanganui out it should be a 12 team format this year which is perfect
but next year there is big hopes of Wanganui and Waikato back so could we see 14 teams for the 1st time ever I think Auckland had 14 teams many years ago, but 14 for Palmy will make for a big show. 12 teams this year though is good for the group setup. Barry B Has the Palmy Teams never been over 13 teams Barry?

Oh and the Kihikihi Kings,
Otago raced as hard as they could and had some good crowd support because of their efforts.

I think the year Otago was at the Teams Champs gave us one of the biggest hits of the meeting when Bolton was chasing down Paul Johnson 82s (i think) and had a go at him in turn 4 and barrel rolled himself big time.
Yes the cars weren't hot rods at all but they still came and gave it a go.

Why is every against 13 teams? Was only 3 years ago a team lost in quilfing and made the final. And there were 12 teams.

Glad Otago isn't in it 😉 You just need to have a wee bit more respect for any man (or woman) that straps himself into a Superstock and goes teams racing maninstand. I actually have more respect for those in the older and underpowered cars from the underdog teams like Otago. They haul all that way, cross the strait, knowing that they're going to get pummelled. Otago were ALWAYS well received by the crowd, telling me they were appreciated by many, so DID add something to the show even if they weren't ultra competitive. I'd rather have Otago as the 12th team, than run an 11 team format, any day of the week. Barry B

If it was as simple as turning up with a pair of boots to play a game everyone would be doing it. But it's not, it's an expensive sport with a lot of money expected to be put on the line and not everyone is in a position to risk what they have to do it. Well said Booker. I don't think a lot of those who comment here and around social media realise just how much money gets spent around Teams Champs. I saw it from close up last year; one of the Warriors cars had two guys doing about 100 hours of work each getting it ready in the week leading up to Teams, only for the most minor electrical problem to stop it in his tracks. The Palmerston North track car that Dion Mooney drove blew a motor when Dion drove it at the Global 248's. That was repaired, then one of the heads was found to be damaged, and that only got back to the team late on Friday night before racing. I'm still not sure who paid the bill for the work. Bevan Humphrey's car had the entire front end rebuilt in the pits after rolling against the Scrappers, only for him to go out and wreck it again against the Poms. The damage around the team was significant, and that was with the Warriors only doing two races, having missed qualifying for finals night. It's all very well for the keyboard warriors to tut-tut about who should be fronting and who isn't, but the level of commitment of every team is massive; in dollars, and time and in putting bodies on the line.

And for the record, I don't have any affiliation with Otago- but I do have a lot of respect for anyone willing to play this teams racing game.

Im sure if I look hard enough I can find a post from about 52 weeks ago when this bloke Mordecai told us all he was gunna boycott the event to teach the promoters a lesson and go to the nrl 9's instead. Maybe he should have made good on that threat, cause he seems like a bloody hard bloke to please

Hawkeyes look extra strong this year with the Regan O Brien and Mike Mac in there . geez we got differant views there could of been stronger if they left regan out. Great stockcar teams racer. Even better guy and great personality for meanee but hasnt quite shone at supers yet. Would rather groom. Then a toss up between stanaway or obrain. Pace or another hitter as 9 16 and 41 great at both!. Tend to agree. Based on seat time and club representation alone throughout this season Groome should have been selected ahead of Regan. 6th driver would have been a better selection for Regan. Inclusion of 46B would provide huge pace as well. HB have a good selection of very good drivers with fast cars giving the selectors the best type of headache they could hope for!

OK seen you disputed what I seem to remember you saying, I did go looking for it and you said if the NRL 9s were the same dates next year (ie: this year) you are going to the 9s instead of teams and you would do the 240s instead. Can I suggest you become a man of yr word.
