I no Meeanee Maulers are struggling to get a team (they will be there) as the time of year is just wrong to run a meeting like this. ANY teams champs should be done after the NZ titles, Feb/March would be the best time. Late feb and March now seem a good time as certainly the weather patterns have changed especially in the north ,it is quite on the cards that heavy rain comes through late january early feb that chases holiday makers from the camp sites etc ..

The Wanganui Vulcans have pulled out of the 2017 NZ stock car team champs so unfortunate for a very proud club. So gutted. they are still in according to auckland site with entries closed 7 teams

And possibly a few more

That's a bit of a shame.

ANY teams champs should be done after the NZ titles, Feb/March would be the best time. Can't run both the NZ Title and the Teams Title at the same time. Gisborne are running the Individual title in late February so something has to give. I'm not sure who gets first choice of date between the NZ Title and the Teams Title but if Gisborne got first choice then Waikaraka had little option but to schedule for this time of year. In any case the annual Superstock Teams Nationals creates a problem in the schedule to work around (unless you ran them together over 3 nights). The Maulers and Vulcans have historically been regulars at the Huntly teams event but neither were able to front with a team this year. It would seem to me a lack of willing drivers is the core issue rather than the date of the meeting.

A mate wants to know of the best camping ground in Auckland, not miles and miles from the track - any recommendations?

I was under impression that the pumas had entered after being told by a crew member that his driver was in the team for this meeting Is it possible that the superstock titles not long after has affected both number of cars on track as well as driver availability?

Yep with the Maulers it is a lack of drivers KEEN to teams race and i know of 2 drivers that were keen but as 1 has his partner driving his car this season and myself my daughter is racing the stockcar both are at Rotorua girls champs the day before so to risky if something happen up there.
As for "Ring-in's" they have to transfer clubs as for stockcar teams you have to be contracted to the club to race for them. $100 everytime you transfer.
As someone else said above the date has been set in September but a club can jump up and down as much as they like to get a team but if DRIVERS want to spend time with there family there is nothing you can do, WE are not pro drivers that get big $$$$$ to race lol.

A mate wants to know of the best camping ground in Auckland, not miles and miles from the track - any recommendations? The closest is probably Avondale Motor Park which is about 20mins in thecar... www.avondalemotorpark.co.nzI don't remember it was awfully big though so may want to tell ya mate to be quick as I imagine will be very busy at this time of the year π

The other option is to pitch a tent in the public parking area next to the track...They would not be the first...No showers or power, but if it only for the 1 or 2 nights...Just an idea.
