Congrats to William, Adam and Jordan.
Palmy win the big meeting as they seem to be the only ones that help each other in force. Stewart was up there on points but 23r and 31r just drove round and didn't help him once. Would have thought LaLa would help his Rebel team mate try get a podium...or is the prize not worth the damage to some ?
Roll on the 240's !!!

Palmy guys deserve the top 3 spots as not only do they have great machinery they also help each other. I feel the most hard done by driver was 94r Stewart. Ashton and Beazley just out there circulating and not helping their club mate. Until those clubs truely start to support their club mates P will always be 1 2 and 3NZ. Bring on the 240s!

Well done Humphries. But the amount of ground some of the P cars cribbed on the Red lights was quite unreal to watch. Thats Home advantage with the promotion I guess.

By no means am I an experienced campaigner at following speedway but from what I saw it was extremely hard and super fast racing! Like the previous poster said it was a numbers game, palmy had heaps of cars. Jason long imo deserves a medal and a million dollars by gees did he try to stop the P. Imo other tracks like S H W R M G B A need support and more numbers. While there are some unreal cars in the just mentioned areas, Palmy seem to have so many super fast reliable good cars. How can we build up our own areas instead of being negative about anyone. Imo this sport has the potential to be bigger then cricket if done right. This post is not intended to offend anyone. Cheers palmy will always have this dominance because they have the bright lights & the knack to poach top drivers from other clubs I don't think drivers are poached to go there. More like if you want to race like its a championship every night, go to where the fastest cars are. Congrats to the winners. Its a battle just to make the finals.

Palmy are the only club who help each other when it comes to the finals and good on them. They have the numbers yea but if you can't win the next best thing you can do is help a club mate. Scott Hewson last season (I think)up on points going into heat three in the 240s had zero support on his home track from fellow club mates.....

Outside drivers were registered to Palmy long before Bruce Robertson. You need to have a little look around and count the number of drivers registered to tracks that are not in the region they live in.. Might surprise you.

Sorry macgor, but I'm a little confused. How does what beachboy said indicate 'a lack of understanding of the sport he follows'? I follow the sport as well, have done since 1965, and I obviously don't understand it either. Especially passing cars in a red flag/light condition. This happening was mentioned on more than one occasion, and not just on this site, during the night's racing. Drivers generally know where they are on the track, and who they are behind, when a stoppage occurs. It is no different today than what it was when I raced back in the 70's. Passing 5 or 6 cars under red, and getting away with it, is an easy gain of placing/points for little effort. Failing to redress the situation is, in my opinion, blatant cheating and if the offender is caught out it should be instant disqualification. And I don't care what track the driver represents when I make that comment. And if the situations were redressed without mention, thus making me unaware of that fact, then I willingly apologize for my comment. All that having been said, I enjoy your site immensely so keep up the great work. Congratulations to all who took part in the weekend's NZ Champs, win, lose or otherwise.

Gomezz - the differnece between you and beachboy is you dont care what track a transgressor is from - fair call. Unfortunately for Beachboy he just has this big splinter in his eye that is the shape of a P ,he cant see passed it and takes every opportunity to rant about the promoter. That is probably what Macgor is meaning. Palmy gets a bollocking after the Grand Prix for not working as a team ( and i was one) but then turn it on when it really counts and all most people can come up with is the anti - p rubbish again.

SNZ via a senior referee control the racing independent of the promotion as anyone who has followed the sport for a length of time would realise. Whether SNZ did a good job in respect of red light creepers is a different debatable matter entirely but to state the Palmy cars alone enjoyed an advantage is wrong.

It's not just the Palmy cars, it's SNZ that need to sort this issue but they won't as its too difficult and they never seem to fix any issues anyway.
In the repercharge the reds came on to remove a couple of stationary cars and KP stopped when leading and was passed by about 5 cars, they then moved him up but even the commentators said he had still lost about 10m. Then after KP rolled 18p and he stopped for the reds he was again passed by about 3 or 4 cars and wasn't moved this time. In the first heat when the reds came on, Dare was on the grass on the front straight and went past about 2 or 3 cars and was never put back. The commentators were saying about how much ground Horse gained on a red and was never put back.
They said in drivers meeting that it was going to be watched and you would b relegated....guess that never happened though

Cheers palmy will always have this dominance because they have the bright lights & the knack to poach top drivers from other clubs Those drivers choose to race out of palmy for a reason. And also, clubs like Stratford, Rotorua and Hawkes Bay have a good number of registered superstocks these days it's just a lot of them decide not to enter big meetings like the NZ champs. That's their decision. Where as a majority of Palmy cars do all travel to the big meetings.

He said SNZ go on and on at drivers briefing about cars who crawl on reds and cars who cut the pole line will be relegated... But the drivers know SNZ don't enforce those rules so they just continuously break them. Sitting at the entry to turn one, most races both nights should have had about 5 or so cars relegated for pole line cutting.
