Cheers Sonic. It was important that we got back this year, because every year you miss teams makes the return harder. The Superstock class is rebuilding at Wanganui, and with the NZ Superstocks at Oceanview in 2019-20, that growth will continue. We are hopeful that at least one of the out-of-town drivers who raced for us this year will be back, and we are committed to building the nucleus of a team that can take things forward. We received fantastic commercial support, sold a stack of Warriors apparel considering the short timeframe between announcing the team and the event itself, and the guys who raced gave it 100%. One thing we need to do going forward is get the team finalised early enough to be able to have at least one race in the build-up to Teams Champs. Lastly, kudos to whoever came up with the idea of a driver signing session on Saturday. Here's the Warriors, including a fearless third-generation Mooney, who is only a couple of years away from Youth Ministocks; the future is bright

Well said I would imagine Clint Hill will be back as I can’t see him replacing anyone in the scrappers side.

Would be good to see it move to a different track each year. But I suppose palmy promotion needs more money

Would be good to see it move to a different track each year. But I suppose palmy promotion needs more money It's PN Speedway's event Maninstand. They are the ones who took the risk in the first place, and the ones who have built the event into the success it is today. And seriously, what other speedway stadium in New Zealand could accommodate Teams Champs with its daily crowds of 15,000-plus. Palmerston North works because it is central, and it has arguably the best speedway facilities in New Zealand.

Doubt it. Have they ever been? yes, been a few years since though. Correct Macgor. It's highly unlikely that the Warriors will be at Auckland Teams Nationals, and we'll actually be running on 3rd March, with Superstocks included in the programme.

Nationals however should go to a different track each year. The interest would grow for this event and probably get More teams.

Wanganui were at the very first teams nationals in 88 when 8v Mike Annabell straight lined 15h Merv Mead up the wall real good in pit bend,i think the last time they were there they were all in orange colours,i remember Kerry Podjursky very well in the tank.

The Teams Nationals is an event that belongs to Waikaraka much like the ENZED event belongs to Palmy. Other tracks are free to create their own event.

Unlike the Stockcar Teams Champs, the Superstock Teams Nationals is a privately promoted event by PN Speedway (Bruce Robertson) via ASSC and not a SNZ title, so not likely to be moved elsewhere unless an agreement is made between all interested parties and a substantial amount of coin changes hands.

Personally I wouldn't expect them to be there but who knows one day perhaps. As an aside my memory reminds me the Warriors upped their act and were a formidable force on several occasions at the Teams Nationals, they became one of my favourite teams during those times.

I see plans are afoot for a 2019 campaign, including a lead-up race to give drivers the opportunity to develop combinations. This is great news...... I remember during the 80's Warriors had annual fixtures with Panthers and Hawkeyes.

That's definitely the plan Ricky. We're looking to make the Warriors a long-term proposition.

The Wanganui Warriors have appeared in 11 out of 29 editions of the Superstock Teams Nationals. Their most recent appearance was in 2012 where they were represented by Dion Mooney, Ron Tye, Gavin Taniwha, Regan O'Brien and Brad Ridland.
The Warriors have never made the final at the Teams Nationals but have lost at the semi-final stage three times. To the Waikato Wanderers in 1988, the Auckland All-Stars in 2005 and the Rotorua Rebels in 2006.
