The Auckland All-Stars will be fronting for the 29th time at the 30th annual Superstock Teams Nationals. The only year they didn't appear was 2004 when the Auckland team used the Attackers moniker and a North Island select team took the name Auckland Assassins.
The All-Stars are three times champions, 1993, 1994 and 1996. They've also come 2nd three times and third twice.
In terms of drivers here are the top 10 by race starts
Bryce Marx - 35 race starts (13 wins, 22 losses)
Warwick Ansty - 24 race starts (11 wins, 13 losses)
Ricky Mitchell - 21 race starts (14 wins, 7 losses)
Dave Tennant = 17 race starts (11 wins, 6 losses)
Gary Ellis - 16 race starts (5 wins, 11 losses)
Frank Irvine - 13 race starts (11 wins, 2 losses)
Kelvin Gray - 13 race starts (7 wins, 6 losses)
Aaron Headington - 12 race starts (6 wins, 6 losses)
Carl Hodge - 11 race starts (4 wins, 7 losses)
Paul Vazey - 10 race starts (6 wins, 4 losses)
They are the only team to win without contesting a final. In 1996 their opponents the Auckland AVD team could not front for the final such was the torrid nature of their semi-final.

I remember that 1996 teams champs, was very fiery,the Allstars raced the Gladiators in the last teams race but they had already won it,the gladiators won and thought they should of been the champions,the Frank Irvine led Allstars and the Clark Procter led avd team did not like each other.Even the normal nights racing was like teams racing back then,they were good days.

Yes the 90’s saw some great battles that’s were Frank Irvine was at his best in the Orange roughy Clarke Proctor was one of my favourite teams racers awesome blockman but always attracted the boys in blue with some of his tactics.

Yes Clark Proctor was a entertainer,you new when he turned up in the pits you were going to see action,I remember at the old Baypark when he hit Steve Parks head on and all the other teams wouldn't race the 2nd night unless the dream team was disqualified,just Clark was disqualified at the end.

I could be wrong but would dayne wright not be in that list? He's the very next driver on the list with 9 starts for 3 wins and 6 losses. Only appeared for the All-Stars 2001, 2002 and 2003. Also made an appearance in 2007 for the Rotorua Rebels 2 starts, 0 wins, 2 losses. |

What about Mr Howe he did alot of teams racing for the AllstarsRacing is for the dirt not the roads He's just sent me a PM requesting his record!! 8 starts for 4 wins and 4 losses. 2 of those 8 were for the Auckland Attackers. He was a successful member of the 1993 Auckland All-Stars. Unfortunately for Graeme and many others of that era it was a knock-out format back then. Half the field only contested one race during the weekend and the maximum was three races in any given weekend. So race starts is slanted towards the modern day drivers who regularly compete in 3 or 4 races over the course of a weekend. |

I could be wrong but would dayne wright not be in that list? Also Rick Campbell & Neil McCoard. Billy Neil would of racked up a few also, he is a 2 time winner. |

Overall Rick Campbell had 20 race starts at the Superstock Teams Nationals but during his time he competed for three different teams. Auckland All-Stars 2001, 2002, 2003. Waikato Wanderers 2004. Wanganui Warriors 2005, 2006, 2007
Neil McCoard contested 9 races at the Superstock Teams Nationals, all for the Auckland All-Stars. He competed in 1989, 1990, 1992, 1997 and 1998. 3 wins and 6 losses which explains the lack of race starts under the knock out format.
Billy Neill had six race starts for the Auckland All-Stars with additional starts for the Auckland AVD team and the Auckland Attackers. Competed in 1988, 1989, 1993, 1994 and 1996. 6 wins and 3 losses in his Teams Nationals career.

What about Mike Henry, he did a few teams races for the All-Stars? You've stumbled on a fascinating story. In 1996 Mike represented the All-Stars in Palmerston North and Auckland. At the Auckland event he was an unused reserve until appearing in the final that wasn't - the race against the Stratford Gladiators who fronted for a mock final after the Auckland AVD team beat the Gladiators in the semi-final but couldn't front for the final. That was the one and only race Mike Henry contested at the Superstock Teams Nationals. However I've omitted it from the record books because the race was outside the event format and was effectively an exhibition race. So my spreadsheet shows zero starts for Mike Henry. |

From memory Percy, that year they had something of an all-in race at the beginning of the second night to find the fourth Semi-finalist? This race was won by the Centra-AVD team, so they'd already raced one extra race on night 2, which took its toll come time for the Final?

1996 was the year of 14 teams and all teams raced once on night one. 7 teams won through to the quarter finals with the Auckland AVD team losing their qualifier but making the quarter finals. I don't have details on my spreadsheet but a 7-team race off would make some sense.
Ironically the team that beat Auckland AVD on night one was the Stratford Scrappers. The AVD team would get matched against the Scrappers again in the quarter final and beat them to run into the Stratford Gladiators in the semi-final and win again!

I have given some thought to the idea in the past but for the moment it's a no. My intuition is the book would sell around 150 copies which makes it uneconomical from a financial perspective. |

And if my memory serves me correctly, they got through because Chris Britton spun out on the last corner of the last lap due to a flat right rear.
