Will just just the third appearance for the Gisborne Giants having appeared initially in 2016 and 2017. However the history of Gisborne at this event goes well beyond the Giants. The Gisborne Raiders were a regular attendee at the Superstock Teams Nationals in the early-mid 90's. Given the distance to travel and the fact it was a knock-out format at that time is was a real credit to the drivers involved as they weren't always the most competitive team.
The Giants are the defending champions and are yet to miss the final having been runners up to the Panthers at the first attempt.
For purposes of the top 10 drivers by race starts I will combine the Giants and Raiders history. Please note I have encountered some difficulty in identifying some Raiders drivers so the list is not 100% accurate: Peter Rees - 8 starts (7 wins, 1 loss) Ethan Rees - 8 starts (7 wins, 1 loss) Reece Lister - 4 starts (0 wins, 4 losses) Carl Shearer - 4 starts (4 wins, 0 losses) Asher Rees - 4 starts (3 wins, 1 loss) Gavin Taniwha - 4 starts (3 wins, 1 loss) Steve McCafferty - 3 starts (0 wins, 3 losses) Gary Davis - 3 starts (3 wins, 0 losses) Three drivers on 2 starts (Bruce Harding, Chris Lovell, Bruce Emmerson)
