I think the current figure is 800+ new cars registered on Auckland roads every week? That's over 100 per day. They gotta go somewhere, and half of them always seem to be trying to go the same way as me!! Barry B Yes, but they forgot to mention how many are deregistered and find their way to the crusher or dismantlers etc.

Parrot I'm sorry but it's not the main connectors getting here that's the big problem. The main issue is Nelson it is literally blocked with mostly BT train trucks Friday afternoons form around 1pm.sure you can get down the water view connector, but the last 2ks and getting in to WP is horrific. If it wasn't the case, why on earth would a promoter move from Friday to Sunday? Friday is only an issue because Aucklanders have "must go same way every day, all the time mentality". Its easy to get to Waikaraka at 5pm on a Friday night from anywhere in NZ. If coming from South get off Southern Motorway at Takanini/Manurewa and go SH20. If coming from North use Waterview tunnel and SH20. If coming from Auckland City use Church Street or Queenstown Rd. People choose to crawl down Neilsen St every night when they dont need to.

Like those above I have my own personal preference, and that's for a Friday/Saturday meeting. But the promotion has to do four things; 1; get 8 teams to make for a better format, a better contest and a better spectacle 2; promote the thing and get enough public through the gates to pay for the thing 3; run it on the two nights most profitable for the club, regardless of what people like me want 4; show some urgency and get us on the way home one hour quicker than last night, especially if it's a Sunday Barry B Have to agree with all of your points above Barry, although I have to add that I think the advertising was the best I have heard in a while, it was on The Rock most ad breaks for a couple of days prior to the event and all day Saturday. Maybe hammer the advertising at least 5 days prior so punter can plan prior to making other plans for the weekend. Also they had a plane flying with a banner on Saturday! I didn't see it, but a mate took a photo of it. Have to agree with an earlier start on the sunday and a more efficient race programme. Sunday finished a bit late, the 6.30 start didn't happen. I think it was closer to 7.00. Other than that, i really enjoyed the racing, both semi finals were the best races I have seen this season!

I think you are making a rod for your own back .. Keep this Sunday night activity up in a fast developing housed area ,not only Onehunga ,but surrounding suburbs and see the repercussions take effect .. The Promoter can bugger off at any stage of the game ,due to unforseen circumstances ,but the club cant so think hard about the long term possibilities of existence ..

Sorry Parrot , You are not correct , do U every drive peak hours in JAFFA land, it ^^^^^ sucks Regards ME Yes for 16 years I have been a bus driver doing Aucklands rush hours. Drove through Onehunga every day for 13 of them. It all depends which way you go. Get off the motorways and main arterials and Auckland is fine. Did Manukau to Onehunga in 30 minutes at peak hour with no problems, or Otahuhu to Onehunga.

Very few listen to the radio these days, and I didn't see the plane either. Mind you, was at work (inside) for 4 hours then at lunch (inside) for 3 hours on Saturday, then went to sleep haha. I do wonder whether updating their own website and FB page might be of more use, at no cost. Or even posting latest info on here. The radio station is likely a contra deal, but I imagine the plane would cost actual cash. I believe on Friday there were still only two teams confirmed on the WP FB page. Barry B

Think this thread may become redundant as I think we'll be back to Friday nights.

Think this thread may become redundant as I think we'll be back to Friday nights. Looking at Sunday Night attendance, I tend to agree, doesn't bother me too much, as I can choose to finish work in Onehunga on a Friday. And because it is after 7.00am I better start a rumour, There was some talk in one of the Team Camps on Saturday that this Event has been offered to Huntly. Make of it what you will.

Cant run on Friday night now,you cant park on neilson street anymore on a Friday and I do get the feeling the teams nationals at Waikaraka is on its last legs,i don't mind it going to another track but there has to be at least 8 teams.

I'm not sure how people can suggest the meeting is on its last legs. That was a fantastic 2 nights of racing. It's the ancillary bits that need to be improved. And maybe a good trigger for people to pressure the new government to go ahead with the connector motorway, as that would solve the traffic instantly. And let's remember other positives. Like the best track surface I've seen (and meeting after meeting, not just one offs), so why move it to somewhere with an unacceptable track? Common sense required.
