Looking forward to taking up the role and joining the team at Western Springs Speedway.
We're going to have some fun before the meeting talking to various people, previewing the event and the special things that are happening that night. During the show it's all about the flow of information to those inside the stadium and at home.
Note - Nothing changes in terms of this forum or Percy's NZ Speedway.

those inside the stadium too busy getting frustrated trying to get the grids in a decent format (like how about in the order it is in the program) if at all to spend time logging on to their phones.
but good luck

We'll see how we go for time but I do plan to get the grids out via Facebook. Most likely in the form of a picture of the programme.
All the heat grids are drawn prior to racing so it should be do-able.

You might be surprised how many people are on their phones, at any live event.
I imagine a lot of people who don't buy a program, would be quite keen to see the grids lists on their phones.

most people are there to watch the live racing not to be on their phone all the time During the meeting, the primary purpose of the social media role is to facilitate interest amongst those who can't be there. Just as USAC, POWRI and WoO do, I hope to communicate the grids via this medium. The broadcast team will be the primary source of information for the live audience. But sometimes you're at the loo, buying food/merchandise, supervising a child or talking to a friend when the grids are communicated. It will be handy to have a secondary resource to fall back on for the live audience where they can quickly check the facebook page to obtain any information they may have missed.

I've done quite a few half an hour live stream pit walks for my facebook page at Palmy last season talking to drivers and riders and showing the cars and bikes, usually about 5pm. (racing starts at 7pm) I know of some locals who have decided to come along after seeing how many cars were there and some unexpected drivers like Peter Rees have turned up. Most streams have been viewed about 1,000 times, and I ask people to comment where they're watching from which I find interesting. All over the country and some from England, Aussie, USA and even places like Durban and Dubai.
I don't live stream the races, I only live stream the Sprintcar warm up hot laps which are usually at 5.30. When I was on the infield I'd follow the cars out pit gate and out onto the track over to the starting grid which people liked too.
Good luck Percy, I think it's a great idea, people love seeing behind the scenes. I'll tune in to Western Springs between races this season.

Dunno if it's something that is already happening with the app wxc developed for the place but live audio ala the USAC app could be something worth trying out.

For those that don’t have Facebook an app would be good. Something that has up to date series points also.

That would be good, then could spend the wheel packing filling in the heat grids each night. The challenge has be made, let us see what happens

The grids are NOT printed in the program. "Percy" is talking about once the grids are drawn prior to meeting start him filling them into a program and posting those pictures to FB. Then those who need to fill in their programs can do so prior to the races without having to struggle to get the info from the announce team (who are restricted on how and when they deliver information because the internet feed takes priority over the paying public in the stadium which is pathetic). Many people fill in programs and keep them. I personally fill in the grids and results plus notes about each race for others who I pass the programs on to.

Just looked at some old ones and the TQ grids were printed, but not the other classes. I guessed, from Percy’s comments they were going to do it for all classes now.
Apologies if I got it wrong 😀

Generally tqs are printed out for earlier races, rest the programme you have fill rest in from information given by commentators, which can get muddled and rushed through. also track records would be great actually know times some the races. or even have them printed in the programme like it once was.
