Does anyone know when the tracks are selected for future titles. Gisborne is long overdue to run NZ Superstocks. Don't think they have had it for maybe 17years?? When Hemi won it?

There is a requirement for a track to contract at least 10 competitors in a particular class to be eligble to host a NZ title so that may explain why they haven't had it for so long, probably meet that requirement now so could be eligible now.

Baypark is longer. And with 10 cars. Deserves to have it within 5. Gissy I'm still not sure. But deff should be given the g.p when baypark get the supers.

All will be revealed in due course. It's more than just the number of contracted cars in the criteria, there's the number of meetings you run the class in the season, minimum car numbers on track, visiting cars etc and that's before you even look at the venue criteria, prize money etc.

Hi Barry, Is criteria still a thing? I hope it is, and it should be. Minimum purse, track facilities, track surface, and reserved seating are key items. I believe a SNZ rep should work with a track that applies and is awarded one of the glamour events. Making sure what they say they are going to do is in progress. I don't believe all tracks come close to meeting what they say thy will do. Admittedly hard to change 3 months out from an event, if non compliance is found.
Not sure what the answer would be other than a tender process for those tracks that have the requirements in place. Yes, I know the glamour meetings may come down to be run at only a few tracks, but would rather see it done right than mucked up.Perhaps some of the tender money can be given to the lesser tracks for them not being able to host the meeting every 13 yars or so. My opinion has nothing to do with this version of the NZ superstocks at all, as I was not there and by most accounts it wasn't lacking too much.
In saying that who now measures this event against the criteria after the fact? A de-brief and report should be given to all tracks to hopefully promote continual improvement. Not just for this meeting but all NZ champs.
Maybe a whole new thread outside this one, and this meeting. Just curious to know at this stage are tracks awarded these meets from the roster 5 years ago and does anyone check closer to the time they still meet the stipulated criteria?

Tracks rely on these glamour meetings every few years to bump up cash reserves and make improvements. Without the input of these events, tracks would likely become insolvent and/or with little or no maintenance or improvements happening. There lies another issue also, where without the big events, competitor numbers won’t spike like we’re seeing at Wanganui at the moment with a resurgence in local super stock numbers compared to a few years ago.

Agree to a point, but they can't just run a below parr meeting to grab some cash. If the tender option happened they would get a portion every year, not just every ten or so years. Added spike of local cars usually only last a year or two, and I agree it is good thing. However they need to put on a decent event/facilities/reserved seating/track surface worthy of the championship it is holding.
Have also seen many events where bugger all improvements have happened pre/post having these titles. Perhaps the tier two deemed tracks get the Nth Island and GP's to get a semi decent field and crowd worthy of the second tier event they are able to run due to above mentioned requirements. Not going to name tracks but some are not worthy of the title and should not get it because it is their turn.

I feel tracks look at these as quick money makers and take the ‘easy’ option of doing the bare minimum. A known problem of the speakers not being up to scratch prior to the biggest meeting the club would have in 10 years is a prime example. Rectify the problem before the event and there be a lot more positive feedback about the sound system than what I’ve read on here.

Agree and have someone from SNZ making sure that all is progressing prior to the meet in accordance to what they have said they will do when meeting the said criteria. Even a live stream option should be part of the glamour meeting criteria ( forgot to mention previously). Really pissed off that Huntly can run the NZ super saloons and not live stream it. I am on call that weekend and can't attend. Their results aren't usually forthcoming to non-attendees on website either. In this day and age SNZ should have as part of it's criteria that certain meets are live streamed. Pits media had proven that it can be done at the valley of Paradise, when others have struggled. Time to get with the now, not the past. The future should only be better. On a side not it is nice to have this as a discussion board rather than a personal attack board. Thanx Jeffery
