Doing more than one show so hoping that will include the champs, his dad certainly knows how to set a car up around W Glen so won’t take him long to get back up to speed

No exciting times for WG with there super saloon field. The return of JL,Peter Schouten now with a super,Craig Cardwell spending some track time down these ways as well.Could be a few big fields over the next month or 2.

Busterbell's photo of Stealth 16R proves that Supers don't have to be ugly. Well done guys.

Does that sound like. 3 meetings in 6 weeks? Or 3 meetings in 7 weeks? Sounds not bad too me. Especially when there’s been a few week to week meeting in the lead up to Xmas. As a competitor I must say it works in very well with national meetings if your keen to travel to NZ titles - which in my opinion should be a goal of every competitor. Cheers and happy Xmas Eve everyone

Quick unofficial results from tonight's Burger King Series 30 lapper final at Meeanee 18M 1st, 46M 2nd, 5B 3rd, 92M 4th, 6B 5th, 1NZ 6th, 17M 7th, 9W 8th, 27B 9th, 4M 10th, 27S 11, 23P 12th. DNFs 124M, 2NZ, 94M
18M started from pole but it was 2NZ who lead early fighting a tight battle with 18M for a few laps before pulling away to establish a comfortable, and seemingly unasalable, lead when all of a sudden he pulled off entering the back straight with what seemed to be about 8 laps left leaving 18M with about a third of a lap lead over the chasing pack led by 5B who had held that spot all the way (mainly from a hard charging 92M, 46M and initially 6B) until right at the end 46M snuck past to take 2nd place on the last lap (might have occurred after the chequered though as it caught me by surprise)
Pole shuffle results were 46M from pole beating 5B 6B beating 46M from grid 2 18M beating 69B from grid 2 49M beating 18M from grid 2 2NZ beating 49M from pole These two lappers were all very close with not much more than half a car length in them for most of the two laps, and in fact the lead did change a couple of times in more than one of the shuffles. The final shuffle saw a titanic battle with the lead being swapped more than once until 49M clobbered the wall on the exit of turn two of the second lap, coming to an abrupt halt as a result with what pit whispering indicated was a squashed header and steering arm damage causing a DNS in the final. It was a bit of a shame as it did look on of the quicker cars on the night. I won't comment about the track condition as I did not speak to any of the drivers but it did rut up a bit and there were plenty of times cars had little bounces and heaps of times when the right rear suspension took a real loading on the corners. There looked to be a fair bit of drive in the outside lane of turns one and two but not so much down the back straight. Hopefully someone more connected with the competitors will be able to give a drivers assessment of the track, given that the HB Sidecar Champs were not able to be run, presumably because of unsafe track condition for the bikes. The 23P car looked pretty rapid at the start of the night but something must have upset things as it rolled heavily on it's right hand rear an awful lot as it looked for the way past cars in front of it. It's racing lines were certainly spectacular to watch but tonight was just not it's night. Misfortune to 95B car twice when bonnet panels became partially unhinged and flew up in two different races causing lack of vision and retirements. Guessing the pit crew will be shouting the driver a beer or two as a result! Going in the meeting without too much expectation I must confess that I rather enjoyed the display put on by all competitors in what looked to be somewhat challenging conditions. A big ups to all the drivers who really excelled themselves fighting hard for every position and very little contact or need for yellow flags. Well done, give yourselves a big pat on the back.

Big shakedown at W Glen this weekend with the BK series coming to town on Saturday night and another nights racing for them beforehand on the Friday, pretty good timing a month out from the champs, 42 cars expected this weekend running alongside the Stockcar GP

Absolute carnage in the BK final, about 6-7 cars out on the first lap, 94m chucked S Flynn up the wall and the cars behind went everywhere and 23p is currently sitting on top of 33b and 92m backed into the concrete wall in the infield

A few of my observations of the night With most events now running the long finals on a tired track, it seems that the Pro X is now the dominant manufacturer over the Hypermac If the Cowlings and Cardwell, especially 2NZ, are at the pointy end of the field come finals time, I expect to see them taking numbers home based on what I saw in the feature tonight, Waddell was quick and gave it everything, but Cowling ran him down fairly quickly when he got open space 23p, fast but looks a real handful to drive, time trials it is great but among traffic looks hard to control 18m, smoothest driver in the class, wasn’t throwing it round in the time trials but was the quickest comfortably 5b Flynn really spectacular around turn 3/4 with the boot right up it 94m, impressed me when I saw her in the pits and even more impressed when I saw her on the track Didn’t get to see the full potential of the locals tonight with Marsden, Taylor and Lawson all taken out in their heat when Grant Flynn got loose. McKay in his first season in Supers continues to be up the pointy end no matter who the company is. Ngatai looks consistent in the Super now too Soper is impressive, took both Cowlings down in the pole shuffle 3NZ Burson, in his own words had his ‘angry knickers’ on tonight after he said he was actually 2nd in the time trials but was given 2nd last, great drove to get through to win his heat with a bit of carnage helping. Always one of my picks come NZ Champs time but have noticed a trend at W Glen where he is lightning early in the night but car goes away halfway through the long feature Special mention to 34t who ran near the front of the pack the entire night Osborne has a bit of a wrong place at the wrong time kind of night and couldn’t get anything going Plenty of talk about the format, format A used tonight with so many cars entered, and I think it made sense at the start of the night when I looked at it. One of the best poles shuffles I’ve seen tonight and a good number of cars in the heat races. The unfortunate side of it, is that through no fault of their own, while running in or thereabouts the top 4 of their heat, Marsden and Taylor were out of the race and effectively the night when you have so much quality there and are off the back of the B mains. At least with 2 heats they have a chance to get some points back. It is also seems very strange to see the car that came 3rd tonight not pass 1 single car all night, Waddell winning the time trials, his heat, the shuffle and about 27 laps of the feature All in all a good hit out prior to the NZs, with the pace the meeting was run tonight though the final may start after midnight !!

Some great racing over the weekend. Hayden McKay was a standout for me. Coming to grips with super saloons very quickly. Could be a dark horse come nz champs. Personally I would of run 2 heats for each group and drop the b mains. Have top 20 on points race in the feature

Just reading McKay has 2 bruised lungs and dislocated both shoulders, must have been a hell of an incident, anyone see it ?

Yea I was there it happened right in front of me.It happened down the back straight just past the grandstand pretty much the same spot as Bursons crash during the NZ super saloon champs.I think he was clipped as it happened at the start of the race as all the cars were in a bunch and he flipped numerous times and landed upside down.Bits from the modified were scattered over the track and it took a long time to get him out.Was a really terrifying incident but glad hell make a full recovery considering how shocking the crash was.
