In this digital age is it time we focused on building atmosphere, giving analysis, critical information and providing some basic detail for the uninformed who might be there for the first time. Listening to all the grids is rather painful and for all the championship meetings I've attended in the last couple of years I reckon I've seen maybe two people filling the grids out in their programme. Reading out fill grids for all groups seems a very outdated approach imo. Just had Mintie trying to give us some information but he was interrupted for more grids! yes very very pain full when it's pretty much just being relayed from what could be displayed electronically to everyone if the track was to just simply allow Live Laps! By the time all the grids or points are read out for each heat the next race will have started drowning it out or the other commentator is almost pissing their pants wanting to interrupt with some info from down the pits. In this year for example they could just say if you want the grids they will be displayed on the big screen in 5mins so keep an eye or out or go on Facebook like everyone. I'm about as old and uncool as it gets and even I can manage that

Helps to keep track biggest movers. Eg biggest move 1st race 591 P up 14 spots from grid 16 to finish 2nd. Commentators keep us up to date and reason why Rotorua so good at including spectators in action. Commentary great with movers etc once it was going but the constant reading of grids was painful at the start and it was time that could have been way better spent elsewhere hyping the crowd etc as stated in other post. Mind, at least Rotorua weren't calling out the grids for all three heats when the first group was on their second-round like Greymouth did the other week! Sometimes I think we forget speedway it just another part of the entertainment market to a good percentage of people who attend and the majority of speedway people who want the grids already have them. Just because it's tradition doesn't mean we should do it forever if technology has taken over

Is there going to be a list of qualifiers ,as some of us poor people have to be on fire watch duty up in the north this weekend ,due to the Jaffa invasion .... My live stream stopped before the run offs but I think I heard one of the commentators say a full list will be on the Rotorua site tonight. Not sure if they meant this one or facebook: www.rotoruaspeedway.co.nz/cgi-bin/control.pl

If you try really hard and take a deep breath I dare you to come up with three positives about tonight's racing.
