A lot of damage to 599p after being straight lined by 12g And 12g was not too flash either! Both front corners of 599p completely shot and the whole front end including main rails had moved across. At least both drivers ok -Ron was laying into car with gas axe and sledge hammer! But..... what is the rule now around straightlining outside of Teams racing??? (There was the BIG one at Huntly a few weeks ago too). 12g got a 21 day stand down so i don't think it was too legal lol, looks like another number Ron will be writing on his dash.

I didnt see the old 2nz or 371 on finals night, anyone know why? Was mentioned on here that a 22 day stand down may have been issued for attacking Ron Tye when he was parked holding Asher Rees up the wall

Was mentioned on here that a 22 day stand down may have been issued for attacking Ron Tye when he was parked holding Asher Rees up the wall Peter Rees opted not to run on Saturday night, even though, after withdrawals, he was offered a start in the repecharge. Instead, he chose to crew for the Gisborne guys. 371K did indeed get 22 days for attacking the stationary Ron Tye who was holding Asher Rees up the wall. Dan made it worse for himself by backing off, then having another go after the first contact. And 12G was given 22 days for the hit on Ron Tye in Turn Three where he fired Tye into the wall, and followed him in hard. I'm sure Ron has written the name down, but Bradley Kendall has also shown that he knows what his bumpers are for, so watch this space!

Did hear Ron was very vocal in the pits all night about “no Gisborne car will qualify” and “every Gisborne car is getting it” so I guess it’s better to give then wait for the got. I did find it interest that When Ron was on the receiving in he was able to get his attacker banned, however when he was doing the winding he escaped punishment - as it certainly looked like he and 126 went straight off the end of turn 1

Tye hit Rees, knocked him off his line, disengaged then came back for another bite at the front end of the 126K car putting it up the wall. Compare that to the Saturday incident between Tye and Kendall and there's no comparison. Kendall's front bumper was in contact with Tye's rear bumper all the way in, and there's no way he was backing off and disengaging. As for Tye being "able to get his attacker banned", there were SNZ spotters on each corner, and it was they who got drivers banned, not Ron Tye.

That's the way I see it as well, if Ron had straightlined Asher he wouldn't have ended up in front of him faced in the right direction. The straightline in tier 2 was textbook, really wasn't surprised to not see 12g back on the track next heat 1 small question I have is do these stand downs apply from the weekend or from the next board meeting the same as the Michael Pickens incident?

the stand down would start from the following day it was issued. but he may have also been referred to the board. but that decision is up to the officials on the night.

I can assure you it had nothing to do with Ron....he doesn't get a say with the 3 SNZ officials up stairs...... the two incidents were different but in the eyes of many who saw what they think it was all have an opinion, they weren't. and on that note i was shown some messages sent to drivers after Friday nights qualifying and the trolls out there who follow our sport need to look at what they are saying to people they probably don't know... it was disgusting to say the least, but that another challenge for another day

Thanks for the insights all.
Great job btw commentary team 👍🏻
Often wonder if they SNZ rulings could be added into the analysis on the night but can image it’s just another crazy busy time in that office without a reporter or camera man asking pesky questions 😳

As you can imagine it was real busy but if we didn't get into the ref's box after a race and there was something to know, Mark cane and saw us in the "media centre" and told us what was happening, kept everyone informed.

971c Jayden Ward couldn't avoid the spun 85k Jared Wade in heat 1 of the final.
