Only 1x R car qualified! Ouch. To be honest and no disrespect to the other R's, probably two R's that had a realistic chance of qualifying and that was Robbie Morris and 3 NZ Richard K. Morris was in the mix but got taken out in his final heat. 3 NZ struggled to adjust to the conditions first heat and settled final two races to just miss out on finals. There's probably at a guess another 16 to 20 cars that would have been competitive tonight. In my opinion they didn't travel due to: costs to race at Greymouth, cars just not ready. work commitments and a thing called the 240's coming up! Its exciting there's a spread of cars from most tracks and finally a good representation of SI cars. Gonna be a fantastic final!

because of having an uncomplicated format of having a repercharge , instead of a straight forward format of 6 groups top 5 in each end of story. 681r,193b,208a,56g,181h,172p,191c,can feel robbed after finishing 5th in their group, i have seven drivers as 172p &191c would of been in a run off for the 5th and final spot.

In Nelson some years ago Asher Rees and Jayden ward came 1st and 2nd in repercharge then finished in this order in New Zealand finals Makes interesting racing for spectators isn’t this is what keeps the sport going

Sorry roxcy but I'm a fan of the repercharge So you are a fan of taking away qualifying rights of someone who has put in the work, prepared and set up the car correctly, read the conditions, read the race and his competitors, and driven smart, just so some who had "bad luck" (maybe did not do all things previously mentioned) can take his/her spot? Repecharges should only ever be used when it is not numerically possible to obtain the correct number of qualifiers from the groups. In a situation like this champs, it is simply stupid to not obtain your full number of qualifiers directly on qualifying night - the first night is called qualifying for this reason is it not? What possible benefit is there to running repecharges on this occasion?

Lets be honest the only reason for repercharges was to get fields for the next night as it made cars show up the second night instead of staying away which in years gone by that is what they did , so hence why clubs do them and on the second night

The thing is they shouldn't really feel robbed, everyone knew the format before entering and knew where they had to finish to qualify on night 1. It doesnt matter where you sit on the debate, you have to race what's in front of you and roll with it. I can guarantee the drivers placed in 5th wont be dwelling on it or having pity, they will simply be planning for the night ahead and roll with the format in front of them.

With 3 more S cars making it through from the reps are you still all anti the basic format they used Interestingly the only car you listed to have missed out if was 5 form each group that did make it through from the rep was 172p.

I think tiroto is hoping the stock car boys will join in to help keep the 240 title at home for once.
