Not a bad entry list for the North Island Saloon champs and a good quickfire 18 race program tomorrow night at Te Marua. I'd imagine some visiting Stockcars as well with 4 races for them. I think the MTF Rollover Jackpot starts at $350 on the first race and will go up by $50 per race on the last three races.
NI Saloon entrants. 1NZ Ethan Cook 7p Shane Laking 7s Richard Drever 8s Craig Korff 8W Mike Denham 8M Jarred Fletcher 9p Jabin Clapperton 11w Scott Jones 12s Blake Hooper 13w Scott Hadley 16w Taylor Mahy 16s Thomas Korff 26s Alan Hooper 27b Josh Smith 29b Steve Martin 31B David Hunter 33B Kareena Annan 34w Amy Eckersley 39P Ashley O'Dowd 42m Trent Amrein 42P Steve Goodwin 45s Mark Hinton 46a Nigel Ross 71K Ryan Neave 77G Daniel Cook 81a Daniel Hickman 92b Kevin Martin 124P Danielle Halcrow 227B Wayne Melling 242p Ashleigh Halcrow

Ditto for M cars - the numbers being 2 and 35ish. Are saloons going the way of the Dodo?

I think the Saloon class is very much like the Stockcar class in that the supers (stocks & Saloons) are going thru what could well be described a golden period. In the Stockcars it's at the expense of quality when you get under the surface of the top 20 or 30 cars in the country, not numbers. With the Saloons it is at the expense of numbers, Altho they are they seem to be a lot more competitive among each other further down than just the top 10-15% of cars/drivers

1st was Jarard Fletcher from Josh Smith and Dan Cook.
The final was incredible. After 1 aborted start they went green for the whole 20 laps. Fletcher had the lead for the first half of the race but a great move by Nigel Ross in lapped traffic saw Ross take the lead which he he hung on to until 4 laps from home when the lead group of 5 cars came across two lapped cars having an 8 lap long side by side battle 8m went high, 46a went low and they there was 4 cars almost side by side for 2 and half laps. Fletcher finally getting the break thru turns 1 and 2 and took the lead at about the same time Ross got swamped going from 1st to 5th in the length of the back straight. 2nd to last time around.
It was an absolutely brilliant race and that last 5 laps was speedway racing at its best.

Great result for 39p Ash O'Dowd who drove the ex John Lovelady Ford Mustang into 14th place out of 30 cars, a great result for Ash who was racing in his 9th meeting after coming back from a 15 year retirement.
The car is 35 years old and was owned by my mate Morph who passed away recently, he'd be happy as.

Agreed Rammers. That was brilliant racing all night. Shame about the small crowd thro. Yip, your right. a small group of stockcars but very entertaining and once they realised they the Rollover Jackpot had got up a bit started turning it on. I actually saw all the ministock races last night and how good were they. The first one in particular won by Hannah Thompson waa just awesome and how rapt was she with it!
