Am I correct in saying a saloon car bonnet can not allow the carb to be seen while racing
Seen this tonight at the South Island Saloons..
A car had substantial damage to the bonnet, after running up the ass of another car, causing bonnet damage. A few laps later the scoop come off causing an orange light. The car was NOT put to the back as it should, for causing the orange lights. Then was allowed to continue at the front, while the carb was exposed. I'd always thought this was against the rules. Others have always been put to the infield.
Thoughts...

I can't see anything in the Saloon racing rules explicitly saying a car must be removed if it's carb is exposed. I assume it is covered by the following general rule. "R11-4-31 If a vehicle becomes unsafe during the race it will be removed by the Referee."
This implies it comes down to what the referee deems unsafe. I don't remember seeing Saloons removed in regards to a bonnet unless it was completely missing, or was deemed to no longer to be sufficiently attached to the car.
As for the caution later in the race, the rules say only that the primary cause goes to the rear. If they weren't deemed the primary cause they are fine.

Cool, cheers for that. This has happened in super saloons with the injection showing. and they were put infield The scoop did cause for the lights to come on, but he was not put to the rear, which I thought should happen. Again referees decision I guess...

The 71c car did not cause the accident in the first place it was the car to get the damage out of the incident. The scoop came off due to damage in the previous incident. He was not told to get off so keep racing.

71c should have been taken off the track going by the rules. It states bonnett or scoop is part of your firewall end of story and the video I watched 71 coursed the damage to himself. Just my ten cents worth.
