I thought the Refreshment in a Packet may of posted on this meeting by now seen he is almost as old as Red .... Any how one bloke who has entered may be the cat among the pidgeons ,he has shown some ability to perform and lets hope Rust never sleeps ,driving his Daltons sponsored saloon ..

Do you mean a certain "thin" fellow? I have my eye on a few others....I am sure it will be a tight competition this year. No standouts like Cowlings or Corins.

As few changes to the groups due to withdrawls but things are looking great for Friday night at Huntly. Heaps and heaps of cars and the weather is looking fantastic.... It is the Tank Guy NZ Saloon Car Championship...who is going to be the best in the country.... The Pits Media are providing a stream of the 2 night title.. 5 heats to find grids for the final race for a title..
Friday 14th February Drivers List for heats Tank Guy NZ Saloon Groups Group A 1NZ Ethan Cook 7P Shane Laking 26S Alan Hooper 75M Michelle McPherson 88K Chris Johnson 89A Tom Roberts 227B Wayne Melling Group B 2NZ Cam Roigard 12S Blake Hooper 27B Josh Smith 67A Scott Rumball 71C Willie Woodhouse 77K Rossco Cresswell 124P Danielle Halcrow Group C 8M Jarred Fletcher 16S Thomas Korff 25H Reece Clements 29B Steve Martin 34M Graham Keating 61K Josey Peat-Bennett 74A Scott Lansdowne Group D 17D Raymond Phillips 18K Chris Taylor 42M Trent Amrein 43K Aaron Tonks 48A Jeremy Silcock 77G Daniel Cook 92B Kevin Martin Gourp E 8S Craig Korff 36M Dale Bigwood 46A Nigel Ross 57D Aaron Andrews 66K Graeme Colson 68H Cody Hata 71K Ryan Neave 146A Paul Wright Group F 7S Richard Dreaver 8K Kevin Williams 21H Steve Williams 31B David Hunter 47D George Phillips 56K Corey Taylor 81A Dan Hickman 242P Ashleigh Halcrow

My money will be on 46A, leading the N.I's by some distant then got boxed in by back markers allowing 3 to pass which knocked him from a podium finish. Midway I know you hoping 66K to do the goods but so far in the Skinny built ex 72M, 99A, 26H super saloon chassis he hasn't shown the form of his super saloon days in the saloon grade. If he can pull it off he would join an elite class of super saloon/ saloon champs. Steve Cowling, S/S 18/19----- Saloons 14/15 Steve Williams S/S 05/06-----Saloons 09/10 Graeme Colson S/S 93/94.98/99---Saloons Fri night Gp E will be interesting, Colson. Ross & Korff. All the best to all the competitors. Red and crew will no doubt provide a championship worthy race surface. Believe the Huntly bypass expressway opens this weekend , if so should help with exiting the track with SH1 not flowing thru Huntly.

I sure hope that our 6 Shooter fan can make it to this one...there are 22 of his faves entered! Very nearly made a right fool of myself...that`s what happens when you try to be even slightly funny! The 6 Shooter spectacle is at the Saloon GP at Kihikihi the following weekend...my bad. Anthony

Difficult decision this weekend. Waikaraka wins over Huntly but only because it is easier. I really want to go to both.

Well Naki fans the farm boy from Tomarata a few moons ago has always been a favourite driver of mine ,now scratch your head and think he deserves more than most a good podium finish Never under estimate an old wise silver finned eel ,they can slip through the watercress with out blinking a eye lid ,Spider man has learnt over the years how to perfect this ,so just watch those who get left in his cob webs . Thanks Mintie for doing a grand job once again ,your blood may be worth bottling at some stage .. And if you are bored to tears after two nights great racing there is a truck show with a few speedway fans in attendance at Wellsford on Sunday with all proceeds going to the Emergency helicopter appeal ..

Ah, yes...that Tomorata boy has looked good this season. A change in the rear suspension after his last race at Huntly. Lets hope he puts on a good show but with an opposite result from last time. Keep the wheels pointing down and the front of the car pointing forward. Will be interesting to see how the track holds up. Water restrictions are in place - so hopefully that does not impact too much. I suspect first night gains will determine the podium as there may be limited passing on the second night. I do hope I am wrong about that one.

I've been asked to explain the format for the weekend in a way that its easy to understand, so here goes. I understand this bit I think... There are 6 groups and each group races a different group once. Each heat is raced over 12 laps... So group A over the 2 nights races groups B,C,D E,and F, that is 5 heat races for Group A. Points are awarded from 20 points for the win of a heat down... Each heat has 14 to 16 cars in it..depending on group size. After all the groups have had 5 heat races, we put all the cars on 1 list and they are ranked by the points they have gathered over the 5 races. The top 16 cars are straight into the final. The car with the most points starts from the front of the grid for the final. Then there are 2 repercharge races and the top 2 from each race take grid positions 16 to 20 in the final. The final will be raced over 25 laps....... Does that make sense ? See you all tomorrow....Mintie

See you all tomorrow....Mintie Same format used at Huntly several years ago for super saloon champs. 2 totally different race surface's for ea night. Fri night track that allowed passing. Sat single file. Hope two nights of similar surface's to make qualifying equal. Great format if both nights equal track surface, gives plenty of chances to shine.
