so last year enthan cook went and won the repercharge to make the finals feild after a d.n.f in a heat and went on to win the championship. he was by far the best car tonight and didnt get a place at all. format does need tweaking a bit to get right. are 80 percent there through. What he learnt from this is, he should of started the DNS grid and collected 5 points.

Any other night he’d get away with a push start, but not at national title. Still if got 4th he was in with a chance and had the opportunity to take back to back.

Back home after 2 busy nights helping the Huntly team. I want to recognise the Huntly club. The track was great - and when you consider the tough challenges they faced with water restrictions and the heat during the preceding week - they provided much better than could have been hoped for. The track allowed passing right through till about halfway through the main feature. Ethan showed this by moving forward consistently in the first half of the race. The timing and scrutineering team also did a great job. Well done all.

Told to me from major sponsor was that the car was running, but alternator wasn't charging. So they wanted to put a good battery in with the hope of finishing the race. Therefore if he had made the line, he would have got 5 valuable points, ie 5 grids up.

Yes, he got a place. Fourth. 😋 It was a hard fought fourth too, getting from grid 13 to fourth after only a few laps of racing out wide, but then the outside line obviously quickly became the slower way round but he couldn't get in. A couple of laps later he was back to seventh. I don't think he ever went wide again after that, and with inside passes being at a premium he struggled thereafter. 16s won the first start, but after the 77g first lap crash and the restart he was only second. Took the lead after only a few laps however, and was never really sighted again, except by 74a late in the race when 16s caught the tailenders. The whole field other than 16s and 74a (who were in clear air) were in one big group, so the tailenders didn't really come into play until about lap 24 of 25. 71c, so impressive though the heats, went backwards from grid 3. The opening few laps of the final, while the tracks was two, lanes, was frantic. Barry B

Ethan will still be the one to watch over the next few years. He'll have learned a lot from this event.
Congrates to new 1,2+3 nz's
