Clayton has been around for the last few season's and has teams raced for the Hawkeyes before. Keen to get in the mix.

I will probably get shot down in flames here, but Im allowed my opinion. Asher is an awesome driver and always puts his car and body on the line.
But in my opinion he has a habit of making some not so good decisions while Teams Racing Especially when he is the lead runner. I am a big fan of Asher and admire what he has done in this sport. But now and again he has probably made a couple of decisions in the heat of the battle that may have not been the best for the team.
Am I the only one with this opinion?

Hi Colin Always good to have an opinion. I think your summary can be applied to all teams racers. It’s super busy out there, with instincts needed and sometimes it’s does t always pay off. In saying that, Ashers been a key part of many winning teams - you only need to look at last years Glen Eagles - let alone the multiple title winning Gisborne Gladiators - so clearly makes more good than bad. Teams racing Is super tough with the IMO ya scrambling the brain, how quickly everything happens in a car, and havi to control a vehicle that can at times be damaged. I admire anyone out there In a Stockcar, let alone anyone teams racing. I think there’s no doubt he’s an asset to any team he joins.

It just seems this year he doesnt seem to be as calculated as he usually is. And yes he has been part of some winning teams. But it has to be said, they have been teams with very impressive team mates.

I think its a case of he is not scared to roll the dice and so will try to out run an opponent into the corner, smash his way through, or blast through a diminishing gap. As with any gamble it doesn't ALWAYS pay off, but in terms of reactions and race craft he is an amazing talent from what I have seen ever since he got into a stockcar/superstock.

I would say that you would need to do some quick thinking at times in a teams race , so the odd muck up would be expected. With Asher , he would be one of the best superstock / stockcar drivers in the country so would have a lot of pressure on him most times..

Was a good report in Gis herald tonight and I think taken from Peewee. In it he said of Asher "He drives at 110%, so we'll just have to try to control him"
