Yes, it is on this week.
There were a few casualties from the Grand Prix last week so we're giving the guys every possible chance to get their cars ready before we confirm the entries and name the groups.
Format will be three groups with each racing the other once, followed by a Top 6 Pole Shuffle and the 30 Lap final. If the forecasted rain arrives on Saturday morning that should put a nice amount of moisture in the track to provide a fast, drivey surface all night.
Watch out for the return of a 1NZ drover from years gone by making an appearance. Will this be the start of a come-back?

19 cars confirmed for Saturday night with the groups as follows. Each group races the other once, so there'll be three heats for points, a top 6 pole shuffle and a 30 lap final.
Yes Allan Haigh is the "guest" driver. As he hasn't raced in the last 5 years, under SNZ rules he has to start off the back of the grid all night; even in the final, regardless of how well he did in the heats.
Group 1 1nz Brad Lane 12s Jason Kalin 21s Newton Gordge 46h Ryan Turner 52h Jordan Hunter 78a Ray Chatfield Group 2 11a Jamie Fox 21h Gary Parker 49c Kevin Ban 53h Barry Hunter 63a Daniel Crumpe 67s Bunter Pierce Group 3 3nz Luke Brown 6a Dave Williams 18r P.J. Fergusson 71s John Jackson 97h Sean Barrack 193h Syd Fergusson R.O.F 17w Allan Haigh

Good looking field and Allan Haigh will add some more 'old spice' so should be a great nights racing. Sorry to the young guns but my pick is for the ole Fox to take the title.

Still working on a date to run the meeting.
The next 6 weeks or so are chocka for the Mods. Whangarei next week, Auckland Champs the week after that, then Huntly, Wellington Champs, Modified Invasion in Christchurch and Speedfest. Then at Easter you have both the Champs at Rotorua and Winged Thunder at Harrisville.
Which means April 18 will very possibly be "it"

April too risky with weather. Just have the Dirt cup incorporating the Auckland champs.. That option was definitely given some thought, but considered to be promotional suicide. Unfortunately the Dirt Cup does not have a sponsor, so was backed 100% by the promoter; and the same applies to the Auckland Teams Champs. Running costs for both events need to be subsidised, if not fully funded by the takings through the gate. With the current restrictions at Waikaraka Park significantly impacting upon spectator numbers, it's just not possible to get enough people into the place for the promoter to even get close to breaking even on expenses if both were run on the same night.

with saying that Crumpie when the hell are they going to do something for you or are they hoping to close the place down somewhere where people and families have a night out enjoying racing cars its just unbelievable the temporary stand on the front straight was taken down ,JUST in case we have an earth quake and the big stand falls on it really . so why dont they pull the dam thing down ?

Hello Grinder29 (and any others that support Waikaraka Park), I would urge you to go to the following link and have your say to SNZ so they can gauge general feeling and hopefully align themselves with the majority. www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/113927Please - this is not a Waikaraka Park or Springs thing. If you go to both then say that. SNZ want to go to council with a folder full of submissions to show that Speedway in Auckland should be encouraged by council. Please do this now....do not delay. Thank you John (part time Mod rep...in between Saloon repping duties).

Wouldn't be surprised if this weekend ends up being last one of season nation wide. 🤔ðŸ˜
