I was just coming on here to post something simler. While she can't put a stop to anything it wouldn't surprise me if princess Jacinda on Monday (after her PR showcase on Sunday) comes out and recommends all large public gatherings be cancelled. I wonder if there has been any talk around the committee tables of speedway clubs about cutting their season short. In asking this I don't for a minute think they should be canning anything yet, but is anyone keeping an eye on it?

Yeah. Good description. a bloke who when he didn't have any contact lens solution, he takes his contacts out, licks then to keep them moist, then puts them back in his eyes. Then wonders why he gets a major eye infection A guy like that shouldn't give health advice

Agree that it is not at the point that events need to be canned, but clubs and organisations should have a Plan B.
Next Phase of containment would be closing schools and cancelling large crowd events, if it gets that far - speedway in general will need to follow good practice and be seen to be responsible.
Nothing to stop live streaming though. Perhaps that is a way speedway could show some innovation and buck the trend of cancelling shows, by providing spectator access to the sport in the most safe way imaginable and maintain 'ticket sales'.
Speedway is perhaps the most advanced sport in this country with repsect to running its own broadcast channels - would be something to shout about if it came to that, but staggering events to allow the small number of guys who can do this would be a consideration.

They are making a decision soon if the NZ vs OZ cricket game will go ahead with the game or it could be spectatorless.
gates closed to spectators at the V8s sp Qualifying also on hold. If anything goes ahead it will also be spectatorless.
Knee jerk round things at this stage

STAGES OF AWARENESS
1. Denial (“It’s just the flu Bro!”)
2. Anger (“I said, it’s just the flu Bro. Stop going on about it!”)
3. Bargaining (“I’m taking extra Vit-C. It will all be okay.”)
4. Fear (“Everything is going to collapse! Get more toilet paper!”)
5. Depression (“There is no hope. No point. We’re all going to get it.”)
6. Acceptance (“It is what it is. Let’s do our best and help each other!”)

Mike Hosking this morning said something that makes perfect sense and sums the situation up perfectly.
"Fear of the virus is the virus"

The more I've seen heard and read today the more convinced I am that after Jacinda has done her PR rally on sunday, within hours a gov't agency will be encourage all events of 500+ ppl to be canned. I t wouldn't surprise me if speedway season is over come Sunday night.

Gee whiz, nothing gets past you does it Rammster, but hardly a revelation. Australia have already introduced a ban on all gatherings of 500 people or more, much like a lot of the rest of the world already have or are doing. It'd be surprizing if something similar didn't happen here, regardless of which political party you support.
Can't you smell the coffee?
If what all the world leaders and WHO say is true, that its serious, then even if it was minor problem its probably still quite epic.
If only 0.5 percent of the world population of 7.4 billion people die thats still 37 million people, plus the financial anarchy.
But yeah, keep those anti Jacinta, pro Hosking comments coming mate, I look forward to hearing what constructive comments Simon says, if anything.

So do we stop selling our manufactured goods ,bringing the country more and more closer to a recession ,because of a few cases which has happened in the country re this corona virus . I guarantee you more since this virus scare reached our shores that New Zealanders found out they have Cancer related problems to deal with than this corona virus and its associated activity . Sure we have to take action at our borders to stop those from affected countries ,and that is paramount ,but to come out with statements like have been read is a little over the top ,else this is one way of shutting down Primary industry ,which is essential to keep the wheels of motion going . In attendance at a funeral of a very special loved one recently more than the average mourner .was present ,it must of been the methanol that kept the virus away ...
