By the end of this week I can see all speedway canned for the year I think you'll find it will be a bit sooner than the end of the week. I understand the PM is going to make a statement later today about mass events, and I don't think too many speedway clubs or promotions would see value in running meetings without spectators.

Will SNZ be making a statement regarding future speedway meetings in light of the latest statement from the government and the potential danger of an outbreak of the virus at gatherings of over 500 people? Competitors, officials and fans alike all need an assurance from SNZ that future meetings this season will either be cancelled, postponed or to proceed. Or is SNZ leaving such decisions to the discretion of the clubs?
Response received 9:33a.m. today;
As it currently stands, Australia has a 500 people gathering limit not NZ
NZ currently only has a self isolation policy of people coming into NZ.
We are following the Governments advice closely and will make a statement when required.
Cheers
Jayson Prussing
Operations Co-Ordinator, Speedway New Zealand
Thank you SNZ for your prompt reply to my query. In light of todays' statement from the PM expect a SNZ statement shortly I suspect.

Livestreaming is a possible solution. The Pits Media team are doing this down South. Without crowds the stream revenue should in theory be larger??.

I don't think I'd be taking the risk of it if I was in charge tho.

If tracks worked together and not in competition a few tracks may yet salvage something from this season. The Peter Barry meeting could work out for Meeanee.

What you forgetting people is there will be over 500 people at these events and thats not even with a crowd just drivers, crew and family.

Not forgetting but as an example of what can be done is a live stream I watched on the weekend where the indoor stadium limit was 250 people. The pits were treated as a seperate area and crews were only allowed trackside when their car was racing. Numbers were monitored and managed.
