Proposed calendar for Huntly suggests the Champs for the year 2021/22 will effectively be a 4 day event.
Day 1. Practice Day 2. Qualifying Day 3. Semi-finals Day 4. Finals
Can imagine this will cause a lot of discussion.

Pretty big, a days travel either side and it becomes a 6 day event for competitors, and a few spectators.

Huntly have been keen on this for a number of years
I recall it being bought up by them and 5 years or so back at conference for the stockcar class
I too will be interested in hearing if approved as a model by SNZ
How many would make it for 3 nights?
How would the fear last? Seems like it’s a great idea for Hoosier suppliers!

It's a good step. But may not be needed if the current crisis continues and encomic impact is serious. First thing to go is the flash race car in the shed.

This might be a dumb question.. but how would this actually work? If you get 100 cars turn up, say...
Night one: Four groups of 25 cars race three qualifying heats each Night two: ? Night three: Top 26 over a 3 heat final
Is the idea that instead of the top 26 progressing straight to the finals, that 52 cars progress to the semis, and two groups race over three heats and then the top 13 from each group make the finals field?

Issue is with 150 showing up. And they ain't far away from those numbers. 150. That way your taking 150 and putting them into 6 groups of 25. Night two would be top 52. And you can run say the waikato stocker champs. So night two would semi final group 1 semi final group 2. Stock qualifying group one. Stock car qualifying group two. And run your consolations. Finals would tier 1 2 and 3 stockcars finals and stockcars consolation. Even do a check stockcar teams with rotorua in finals night. Well something along those lines anyway I'm sure they are thinking.
