I went to the supermarket today. There was flour and there was plenty of toilet paper, that's gotta be good right. But still there's more. On the way there, the gas gauge in the car started beeping at me, it was on E for, EEEK, ring the bank manager we need to gas up. Here's the thing, I managed to fill it up, TO THE TOP, for $90 bucks. When you could last fill a car up for less than $100 bucks.
Toilet paper, flour, and cheap gas, I ask you, does it get any better.

The Toilet Paper is now made of one ply so it can move faster than 3 the flour is sweepings of the floor as in short supply and the Gas is the Dregs out of the tanks during the shutdown period at Marsden Point

We should lock the Globe down for a month every year, Give Mother Nature a chance to heal a bit from all our last 11 months of use and abuse. Im sure the oceans would like a month off from being raped and pillaged, and the air quality round the globe improves dramatically...in fact I wouldnt mind if the world stayed on lockdown for another 2 months...But i see Wuhan is out of lockdown now...what a frikken joke that is... Chinese Govt under reporting is what lead to this ...Under reporting lead to under estimating, under reacting and under prevention...calls for NZ to relax are far too early. Its only two weeks since...Everyone will be chomping at the bit for a stockcar fix come the start of the new season.

We were getting ready to watch todays 1 o'clock update on the TV. This has become a bit of a routine given that sweet all else is going on. Do some work , bit of lunch maybe, and watch our fearless leader update the numbers at 1. Then it dawned on us. How much is this like back in the day, when people gathered round the wireless for daily updates on the boys at the front line.

Yes i can remember Grandad listening to the BBC world news even past the war and telling us young blokes to shut up as he smoked either his pipe or those fat cigars that came in a nice wooden box .One way to fix the smell was to pull the aerial wire off while his back was turned at the stove kettle making his cup of tea ..

I was recalling the same the other day, 1pm for our daily updates and thinking as a child our parents would make us shut up as they listened to the news on the valve radio, but they still called it the war news.
