Is it time for the team nationals to be run like the nz stockcar champs as in the team that wins has hosting rights for the next year. Might give the championship a boost as it seems to have become overshadowed by palmy

No. It’s the clubs own event nothing stopping other clubs trying to run a similar event as Huntly does

Might give the championship a boost as it seems to have become overshadowed by palmy I know it's a matter of perspective but I'm not sure there was ever a time that palmy hadn't "overshadowed" the Auckland event. Palmy has certainly been the longest running and always been the most prestigious.

Bruce Robertson wanted to do that when he started the teams champs in 1981 but the other clubs didn't want to do it so he kept it at Palmy, bet he's glad they said no now lol.

No. It’s the clubs own event nothing stopping other clubs trying to run a similar event as Huntly does problem being if clubs started trying to run there own events like that it would fail. Not enough teams or money to race 4 or 5 champs. Auckland champs are a joke as it is. Barely get enough teams together to compete. If there was hosting rights on the line more clubs would motivate there teams to attend

Do your home work seen you have been in isolation for sometime The ASSCC came up with that idea years ago as a club promotion and called it the teams Nationals ,and every year since it has been except for one it has been run as such ..But as modern day has come upon us and regrettably things change other clubs have picked up on others misfortunes ...

Palmy has certainly been the longest running and always been the most prestigious. Your probably correct but, the Auckland event in my opinion instigated changes that have served to enhance the Palmy event. In the early 90's palmy was basically an eight team contest and Auckland pushed the boundaries getting up to 14 Teams and in a way Palmy followed suit and increased their team numbers. About the same time a push from the Northern tracks to race under a "first across the line" format, which Auckland ran, also had more appeal to the drivers and was part of the newly introduced Team Racing Rules. I also felt there was some dissatisfaction from teams over the lap-scoring and officiating at Palmy which the Teams racing Rules overcame particularly having a Senior Referee appointed to oversee all Teams Events giving a degree of consistency and perceived impartiality that was missing. Despite the anti-Auckland brigade repeating the same dribble year after year there should be some recognition of its impact to the Teams racing scene and after 30 plus years it deserves its place on the Superstock calendar weather it be 6, 8, 10 teams.

Yip no argument on most of those points, the other major change at palmy was the standing starts that were brought in around the late 90s? Altho it was a particular race at palmy (p v b) that brought around this change. I think from memory the akl event was always clutch start yeah?
